Serves as a Staff Support Specialist at the Houston TRACON (I90) and is responsible for tactical and strategic support of multiple program areas such as training, quality assurance, traffic management, airspace and procedures, plans and programs, and other facility program areas.

Independently evaluates air traffic control facilities within the Service Area. Applies comprehensive NAS knowledge to identify trends in air traffic incidents, runway safety, and flight plan safety goals. Provides comprehensive oversight and implementation guidance on the NAS air traffic facility initiatives and acts as a clearinghouse/senior point of contact regarding Quality Control initiative performance and effectiveness.

The incumbent prepares reports that contain findings and analysis of facts, and recommends changes in work methods, procedures, air traffic activity reports, and actions to improve employee performance.

Additional duties include: Provides technical assistance to Flight Standards Division inspectors; conducts a review of aircraft accidents and air traffic incidents; coordinates with other technical experts to discuss findings and assure that the total system requirements are considered, and differences in policy application are solved; completes technical evaluations of air traffic control facilities within the Service Area as directed by the appropriate Service Unit; provides comprehensive, detailed information as required for litigation support; provides air traffic control process information support to facilities for accident and incident reporting; and executes operational audits for air traffic control facilities.

The incumbent works under supervision of first or second level management, who provides administrative direction for assignments, in terms of broadly defined missions or functions. The incumbent is responsible for planning, designing and completing work assignments independently. Work is evaluated in terms of results achieved and effectiveness in assigned program areas.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.

Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as:
1.Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks);

2.Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATO facility {NOTE: An employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATO facility who is upgraded is considered to have met the qualification requirements of the higher-level position, since he/she has been performing the higher-graded work};

3.Must have held a MSS/TMC position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATO facility {reference NOTE above}.

For this position, applicants must currently hold or have held the position of CPC/TMC/TMS, MSS-1 or higher (or) FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or higher in a Headquarters or Region (Service Center) position.

Evaluation Criteria:Candidates will be rated in accordance with the instructions contained in FAA Form 3330-43-1, (06/00 or 10/11) Rating of Air Traffic Experience for AT Movement.
