Job Summary

This position description is for a developmental and/or rotational position typically of two to three years duration. Incumbents to this position must be pre-approved by the Senior VP Nuclear Operations.

The Nuclear Specialist Station Support is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, nuclear site services, and/or outage and planning activities for the station. The activities will be conducted in accordance with approved plans, programs, licenses, technical specifications and good operating practices. This role functions under the oversight of the respective department manager, including filling in when the respective manager is unavailable.

The Nuclear Specialist Station Support provides oversight and direction to the respective department's Superintendent and Supervisor-level positions. This role is responsible for ensuring that the shifts are adequately staffed, that operating data is properly recorded and retained, and may participate as a member of the FSRC. Responsible for strategic planning and business planning in the respective department. May report directly to Manager-Nuclear Operations, Manager-Nuclear Maintenance, Manager-Nuclear Site Services, and/or Manager-Nuclear Outage and Planning, as deemed necessary by the organization.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 7+ years of power plant experience in which three years are nuclear power plant experience.

  • Strong Operational Knowledge about plant systems, work processes, NRC regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Strong Communications Skills: demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills when interacting with peers, direct reports, regulatory agencies, and industry groups. -Effectively communicate expectations, operational concerns, and interact with a variety of individuals within multiple levels of the organization.

  • Presentation skills are required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills: motivate and lead the operational organization including managers, supervisors, and individual contributors.

  • Responsible for motivating and developing individuals within the organization to accommodate performance shortfalls in other areas.

  • Strong Teamwork dynamics: work with various groups to develop and foster a common goal for the entire organization.

  • Strong teamwork dynamics must be demonstrated including leadership, conflict resolution, and decision making.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines: Business, Engineering

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Holds or has held Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license - preferred North Anna and Surry: ANS 3.1 12/79, Section 4.2.4 based on functional responsibilities of position.Millstone: ANSI N18.1-1971, Section 4.6.2 based on functional responsibilities of position
