Assists the Clerk of the Board in the scheduling of appeals; maintenance of Board files and exhibits; administering oaths to witnesses and marking exhibits at trial; answering public inquiries regarding board practice and procedure; and performing administrative duties as directed by the Clerk of the Board.

  • Answers inquiries with regard to the appeal process and filing procedures at the Board

  • Reviews tax appeals for jurisdictional defects at time of filing and denotes proper entry fee

  • Schedules hearings and then notifies interested parties; if necessary, arranging for a stenographer

  • Administers oath to witnesses, maintains Minute Sheet of proceedings, and indexes exhibits during hearing

  • Arranges status conferences with the parties for Board members

  • Records information on case management

  • Maintains case files, including ensuring that all pleadings, correspondence and other documents are in the case file

  • Receives, date stamps, and distributes mail

  • Travels when necessary for hearings held outside Boston

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the business or commercial course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. *

II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience. *

III. A diploma for completion of a one-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. *

IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience. *

V. An Associates or higher degree may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience. *

NOTE: Educational substitutions will be permitted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.

Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent experience. * 3-5 years related experience required. * Demonstrated knowledge of commercial lending products, credit policy, loan documentation and administration requirements, and legal and regulatory guidelines. * Demonstrated knowledge of commercial lending policy and procedures, including lending authority, loan structures, risk ratings, loan to value ratio and other related information. * Demonstrated knowledge of commercial rate changes, billing processes, reading transaction histories, explaining late fees and interpreting the technical details of the loan system for Customers and Relationship Team. * Exceptional Customer service skills. * Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. * Flexible and adaptable to change, with demonstrated ability to learn new tasks and systems quickly. * Demonstrated attention to detail, including ability to review large amounts of detailed documents for accuracy. * Strong PC skills, along with knowledge of Relationship Team systems and software. * Able to learn and assist others with new tasks and systems.
