The Assortment Planner, in partnership with the merchant and financial merchandise planner, is responsible for developing the bottom-up item level assortment plans that balance to class level plans. The assortment planner provides receipt, productivity and sales targets (dollars and units) to the merchant at the style level. Clear execution and communication of the strategies will ensure collaboration between the financial merchandise plans and style level buys to maximize sales, profit, and inventory turnover.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares and analyzes SKU productivity and choice level performance to develop detailed style/choice/tier/location assortment plans that balance to the financial class level plans

  • Drives pre-season, in-season, and post-season item level analysis and identifies opportunities and risks

  • Analyze and own reforecast choice level plans, communicating risks and opportunities to the merchant and merchandise financial planner and developing appropriate action plans

  • Ensure alignment of assortment breadth and depth within the class, subclass, and power driver

  • Uses historical trends and forecasts to make sales, receipt and markdown recommendations

  • Perform exception-based reconciliations to ensure the assortment plan fits the merchant intent and overall merchandise strategy

  • Cross functionally partners and aligns with Merchandising, the Merchandise financial planner, and Sourcing to ensure all performance objectives are met in assigned area of responsibility

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field

  • Years of Experience: 1 - 3

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, reporting tools and overall system savvy

  • Proven/Prior experience in assortment planning system

  • Proven analytical skills and financial acumen

  • Can influence, negotiate, and present ideas that lead others to action

  • Utilize retail math skills to analyze and drive business

  • Results-oriented and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Percentage of Travel: 5 - 15%

  • Type of Travel: Overseas

Preferred Qualifications (skills and abilities)

  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work well within a team environment

  • Produce ad hoc reporting as needed by the business

  • Analytical skills reading results and translating into viable actions

We currently have an opportunity for a Central Planner (merchandise): Plus Segment (Lane Bryant & Catherines) to join our team located at our Corporate Columbus-catherines-Columbus, OH 43219. Position Overview: The Central Planner of Plus Segment is primarily responsible for supporting merchandise planning for Catherine and Lane Bryant's through analysis and reporting focused on financial objectives with the goal to maximize sales and profits. The ideal candidate will partner with Planning and Finance to build topline plan goals {across product categories that fit into Total Plan architecture}. Key areas of focus include pre-season and in-season planning, margin optimization and inventory management (clearance glidepath/POS management). The Central Planner will partner closely with several other functions including merchandise planning, merchandising, marketing, finance and allocation. The role is a key member of the Catherine's promotional committee and drives hindsight and recommendations for future seasons. The Central Planner also oversees the Central Planning Business Analyst and manages standardized reporting (MPC/OTB/QBR). Duties * Partners with planning and merchandising leadership to understand pre-season and in-season merchandise strategies. Drives seasonal planning from top-down point of view, working with cross-functional stakeholders. * Plans and manages promotional recommendations on company clearance inventory that achieves financial targets. * Rolls up key information and presents total company strategies to leadership in key meetings such as MPC, OTB & buy reviews. * Oversees standardized and ad hoc reporting for the Plus Segment. * Analyzes historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities to business and recommends strategies to achieve financial goals * Conducts hindsight analysis to incorporate learning's into current & future plans * Partners with Planning leads to align on the Financial and Merchandise Plans. * Member of the Catherine's Promotional Team, driving decisions based on hindsight analysis and test results.
