The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking a motivated, cause-driven Association Marketing & Communications Project Manager to serve as a leader with the Marketing Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with internal department and branch teams to collaborate on marketing plans across all media outlets.

  • Effective communicator and planner; able to keep projects on time and at or under budget.

  • Create, cultivate and enhance relationships with external audiences including vendors, media and key community stakeholders.

  • Plan, create and implement workflow processes and analyze association marketing initiatives for development and retention of members and program participants, including branch-specific marketing initiatives.

  • Support communication content across all media channels to increase awareness of the organization's mission.

  • Support special Association/Philanthropy events.

  • Assist with marketing department budget management and development.

  • Ensure quality control of all printed materials throughout the Association.

General Description: Responsible for directing and managing the workflow of the marketing and communications team by assigning job tasks, facilitating interdepartmental communications and managing external communications. Provide structure, direction and supervision to all association and branch-specific marketing projects, serving as the lead on internal department communications as well as the primary branch contact; credible communications partner to staff, volunteers and vendors. Ensures that projects are completed on time and on budget.

Knowledge & Skills:
Two or more years' experience in corporate or association marketing required, with a college degree in a related area. Must have exceptional oral / written communications and organizational skills, able to work in a fast-paced environment and be deadline driven. Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite required. Ability to work with people in a supportive, stressful and collaborative role. Additional applied skills in budget development and financial analysis / reporting and purchasing essential. Must be able to effectively work with teams to accomplish departmental goals. Able to work evenings/weekends as needed.

This position supports the Execution of BCBSA Mandate Requirements. Project Manager: Works with business partners to identify and implement small to medium projects that support achievement of simple to complex unit or corporate goals. Projects may be business and/or technical (software implementation or application updates) in nature. Works with moderate guidance and is responsible for applying project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems. Operates within defined parameters using project management methodology. Primary duties may include; but are not limited to: Manages the development of a prescribed planning document; develops project charter; partners with sponsors to secure project approval; develops communication management plan; defines project team roles and responsibilities, develops work plan structure and project schedule; develops deployment plan; leads project meetings; identifies, documents and prioritizes scope changes and facilitates approval process; maintains and updates all project documents; secures the appropriate skill sets for project; sets and manages expectations with resource managers and team members; provides performance feedback to team members and resource managers; maintains issue log; facilitates resolution of issues; executes communication plans; regularly reports status of reports; manages and monitors ROI throughout the project lifecycle; tracks and manages time and budget against plan; develops testing strategy; conduct project close-out activities; prepares and participates in quality review checkpoints; obtain/secure and archive necessary approvals; manage and update project plan. Ability to create an effective team environment, build strong relationships, solving problems and issues in a matrix environment and communicating effectively at all levels of an organization. Project Manager Sr.: Manage multiple projects of varying sizes and duration including large projects from a global perspective that incorporates both the business and technical aspects of the project. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Applying project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems. In addition to all responsibilities of a project manager this position coaches and mentors project team members; mentors other project managers; determines project scope; develops resource, risk, quality, cost, and scope management plans; develops training plans; develops requirements documents; develops project approval matrix; identifies project team training and tool needs; defines, recommends and secures contractual agreements for services and products; coordinates requirements, schedules implementation and post-implement plans, and develops service-level agreements for vendor partners and global resources firms; defines quality gates for each project methodology phase; defines critical success factors; and establishes and manages the project warranty period. as assigned. Project Manager: Requires a BA/BS in a related field; 3 years professional project management experience required during which at least 2 years are spent leading and directing project tasks, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
