The Associate Vice President is responsible and accountable for all operational aspects of planning, developing, innovating and implementing center based programs and services and may be responsible for other aspects of operations.

Hiring Range: $80K - $90K

Responsibilities

  • Leads strategic direction and oversight for Aquatics, Healthy Living, Youth & Family, Teen, Sports and Challenger/Adaptive programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Provides direct supervision over Sports and Challenger/Adaptive programs.

  • Facilitates impactful meetings with Program area leadership by area, driving program excellence and innovation.

  • Collaborates with People Services to design and implement cutting-edge training and development initiatives, enhancing team capabilities.

  • Pioneers new program ideas and initiatives, ensuring continuous innovation and effective execution.

  • Acts as a key ambassador for the YMCA, building and nurturing strong relationships with local organizations, businesses, and governmental entities to enhance community presence.

  • Cultivates and sustains strategic partnerships with community agencies to enhance service delivery and expand program reach.

  • Analyzes monthly budgets for all program areas, ensuring sound fiscal management and financial health.

  • Champions the execution of the strategic plan within program delivery areas, driving progress towards long and short term objectives.

  • Promotes active member and volunteer engagement, fostering a vibrant and participative community within programs.

  • Leads and participates in high-impact special events, activities, and meetings, including staff meetings, training sessions, and key committees.

  • Ensures strict adherence to association policies and procedures, maintaining organizational integrity and compliance.

  • Guarantees the safety and quality of all programs and services, ensuring they meet the highest standards.

  • Effectively manages risk across all program areas, proactively addressing potential issues to safeguard participants and staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years' experience in one of the following program areas (Aquatics, Healthy Living, Youth & Family, Teen, Sports and Challenger/Adaptive).

  • Experience in working with budgets

  • Demonstrated success in associate teamwork, development and implementation of innovative concepts and collaborations.

  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, influencing others, and responding to multiple priorities.

  • Experience in creating impact

  • Capable in building community relations and partnerships.

  • Able to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.

  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations, and not-for-profit sector employment policies and procedures.

  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.

  • Able to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.

  • Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.

  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient.

  • Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software.

  • Must have reliable transportation. Travel around the Greater Kansas City area is required.

AFTER HIRE REQUIREMENTS:

  • YMCA of Greater Kansas City new employee training course within 30 days.

  • ActiveNet training within 30 days.

  • Certified in CPR, First Aid certification and AED within 60 days.

  • Performance Excellence Planning completed within 90 days.

  • Working towards obtaining YUSA Leadership Certification.

  • Must maintain a current motor vehicle license and acceptable driving record that meets YMCA standards.
