Job Summary:

As Regis University's chief Human Resources Officer, the Associate Vice President for Human Resources (AVPHR) leads the development, planning, and directing of our highly diverse and engaged workforce, enabling the achievement of the university's strategic objectives as a Jesuit Catholic institution. This position oversees the University's core human resources services: talent strategy, total rewards, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and payroll and compliance with U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Title IX. Talent strategy includes the recruitment, hiring and retention of workforce talent to include our faculty, staff and student employees. Total rewards entails the design and administration of competitive and legally compliant total reward programs, including compensation and benefits; leadership and workforce development; employee relations; performance management; HRIS and payroll administration; work life balance and support for Equal Opportunity/Title IX compliance. The AVPHR leads a seven-member team, who are together responsible for furthering Regis' commitment to its employees and strengthening its position as an employer of choice in the marketplace. This position collaborates with University Leaders to optimize the university's human resource function, to include its information systems capabilities and support.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential:

  • Areas of responsibility include employee relations, conflict/grievance resolution, compensation, benefits, job evaluation/classification, recruitment/staffing, employee orientation/training/development, payroll, and human resource information systems.

  • Develop and maintain innovative human resources initiatives and programs to support the university's mission, values, entrepreneurial spirit, and strategic objectives. Translate, in collaboration with many levels of University management the university's strategic plan into human resources strategic and tactical plans.

  • Create HR strategies that enhance the ability to recruit, develop, and retain a highly motivated, diverse, and effective faculty and staff workforce that supports the strategic needs and requirements of the university.

  • Work in close partnership with university leadership to further strengthen the university's culture of respect, inclusion, and equity for all members of the community. Support the efforts and requirements of maintaining the university's Hispanic-Speaking Institution (HSI) designation.

  • Ensure the existence of workplace conditions and quality management that support employee morale, satisfaction, performance, enhanced work-life balance and optimum productivity.

  • Oversee, improve, and report on data within the human resource information and payroll systems, Workday HCM/Payroll, or similar human resources technologies to optimize data-driven human resource management.

  • Develop policies and practices to ensure that the best-qualified candidates from a diverse applicant pool are recruited and selected to support the unique mission-driven needs of the university.

  • Lead human resources planning activities, including staffing, succession planning, career planning, and leadership development.

  • Partner with the University leadership to develop an organizational structure that results in human resources, staffing and cultural plans that strategically address the opportunities and challenges of the university's future workforce requirements.

  • Serve as the administrative liaison and primary professional resource to the Board of Trustees Executive Compensation Committee. Guide the committee to ensure good governance practices, internal controls and compliance with Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 4958.

  • Support the institution's Equal Opportunity & Title IX Coordinator and related programs.

Other:

  • Serve as a recognized culture steward and change agent.

  • Perform related duties, as necessary, to support the mission of Regis University.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent) from an accredited institution of higher education. Relevant industry experience in lieu of a Master's degree may suffice.

Experience:

Ten years of relevant and progressively responsible management experience in Human Resources. Higher education experience and experience with large employee populations (1,000+) preferred. Workday experience and proficiency preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Some local, regional, and/or national travel is required.

Pay Rate:

$125,000 to $175,000 / annually commensurate with qualifications.
