We're looking for an
Associate Underwriter
Based in Richmond, Virginia and reporting to the Division Manager, this entry level/trainee role will learn the underwriting concepts needed to grow an underwriting career. You may be placed in one of the following divisions: Allied Medical, Energy, Excess Casualty, General Casualty, Life Sciences, Management Liability, Medical Professionals, Products Liability & Contractors, Professional Liability, Small Business Casualty.
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing risks and developing and managing relationships with primarily wholesale brokers in the U.S. This role will review and analyze data, price and negotiate coverage terms and correspond with brokers. Minimal business travel may be required.
This role will focus on Excess & Surplus lines placements for small to medium sized, hard-to-place accounts.
What you will do
Contribute to Hamilton's strategy to grow and diversify the specified division's portfolio
Underwrite business in accordance with guidelines to maintain underwriting standards and discipline to ensure delivery of profitable results
Originate, grow and develop high level market relationships with brokers.
Use critical thinking skills to negotiate terms

Bachelor's degree in risk management, business, economics, or a related field of study, beneficial but not essential
