The InterOperability lab is a commercially funded independent testing facility for networking and data communications devices and software. The Associate Technical Service Manager is responsible for supporting the development and execution of testing services and/or hardware/software testing tools used by our approximately 200 global business partners https://www.iol.unh.edu/membership/members. The position will serve as a technical manager for conformance teams within the Embedded and Baseband teams.. The technical manager role will support teams such as Auto-Negotiation, MAC, Flow Control, PCS, etc.

Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
Basic experience creating technical documents
Basic knowledge of networking device configuration (home router, etc), scripting concepts, and the desire to train college students for future roles in the industry.
Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Ability to travel.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in technology appropriate to project such as IPV6, high-speed ethernet and mobile, and/or other technology as defined by the IOL.
Basic troubleshooting experience; ability to respond quickly and isolate basic issues with networking devices
Basic demonstrated understanding of data communications; communication between computer systems or devices and testing practices and methodologies
Agile Team Experience
Project management experience.
Business Development and Marketing experience
Customer service - client relationship management experience.
Knowledge of Atlassian products

Project Management, Development and Supervision
Assist in preparing project reports and project plans.
Assist in managing 2 teams to complete testing as requested, update test plans and procedures, and provide feedback to development teams for improvements to internally developed test tools.
Example: Work with technicians (5-12) to ensure testing is completed accurately and on time for customers needs. Review revisions to test tools and provide feedback to IOL internal development teams.

Training and Testing
Implement laboratory training policies; train and mentor employees as assigned to: complete testing, learn agile methodologies, and learn lab-wide and team-wide policies and procedures.
Support the technical requirements, setup, maintenance, and operation of the current Embedded and Interop test software and services, along with future test offerings.
Example: Specifically, provide technical training to 5-12 employees on Ethernet related technologies, software testing methodologies, and agile methodologies. Train employees to follow applicable standard operating policies. Perform and provide technical support for testing. Generate and review technical reports for customer distribution. Perform and provide technical support for testing protocols.

Develop and maintain detailed networking test plans based on open standards.
Provide input to the IEEE and other relevant forums on technical documentation.
Example: Provide development input for relevant test specifications. Provide technical input to the above named groups and future industry bodies on relevant topics. Also, provide input to the IOL quality management system(s) to improve the policies and procedures.

Trade show/Events and Travel
Assist in planning, organizing and execution of UNH-IOL supported group test events operated under existing project or testing services.
This includes designing test metrics, topologies, collecting results, and reporting to vendors before, during, and after the event or initiative.
Example: Provide technical support for the test events or trade show demonstrations for ~4 events per year.
