The State of California's Employment Development Department (EDD) has an exciting career opportunity for a candidate seeking a position as an Associate Tax Auditor (ATA) in the Tax Branch, Field Audit and Compliance Division in the Compliance Development Operations-Labor Enforcement Task Force-South.

The Associate Tax Auditor conducts the more complex field audits/investigations of businesses and organizations suspected of intentionally operating in the underground economy, for the purposes of upholding the California Unemployment Insurance Code (CUIC) and California tax regulations.
The Labor Enforcement Task Force (LETF) program is designed to identify the most egregious offenders in the underground economy for targeted enforcement action. The LETF auditor will conduct on-site inspections of non-compliant businesses. Partnership agencies include the Department of Consumer Affairs, Employment Development Department, and Department of Industrial Relations.
Additional responsibilities include status determinations to ensure business entities are properly reporting their workers, wages and employment tax obligations while upholding California's tax laws and EDD's rules, regulations, procedures and policies, advising employers in the application of the CUIC and representing the Department at hearings.
This position is headquartered in (Santa Fe Springs, CA) and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
NOTE: The program will also consider filling this position as 'out-stationed' working from the Anaheim office!

Statement of Qualifications Requirements

Background Investigation Requirement
The position(s) may require an applicant to pass a background investigation. However, applicants will not be asked to provide information about a conviction history unless they receive a conditional offer of employment.
The department will make an individualized assessment of whether the conviction history has a direct or adverse relationship with the specific duties of the job and the work performed by the department. The department will consider potential mitigating factors, including, but not limited to, evidence and extent of rehabilitation, recency, nature and seriousness, and age at the time of the offense(s).
The investigation will consist of completion of a personal history statement and fingerprinting checks with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice, and/or local law enforcement agencies.
