Seeking Java web developer for team in Auburn, AL.

Job Details:


The position requires the ability to consistently develop and deliver projects on established time lines and quality expectations. Responsibilities include:

  • Provides input to project plans by supplying accurate time estimates

  • Documents and demonstrates solutions using flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, & code comments

  • Performs analysis of current programs including performance, diagnosis and troubleshooting of problem programs

  • Updates job knowledge by studying modern development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Follows the established development methodologies

  • Provides escalated technical support as required

  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment as well as independently, and possess a sense of accountability and urgency in completing assignments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree, or higher, in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or 2 years of software engineering experience

  • Knowledge of Java & SQL

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Solid understanding of relational database design concepts

  • User interface design

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, proven ability in determining the root cause of problems and the base set of conditions for their occurrence

  • Experience with the following tools/technologies: JBoss, SQL Server, Bootstrap, JavaScript, XML, HTML5, CSS3

This position is a member of the development team in the Information Technology department. The Software Developer follows established work methods and procedures to complete tasks, support products, projects, and databases. Performs standard tasks such as communicating with customers, including non-technical users, to identify and analyze technology needs; responding to and resolving problems from users; analyzing problems of applications and solving them with no or little assistance; supporting and enhancing existing applications in compliance with specifications and standards; coding, writing specifications and developing applications and reports; performing peer code review, unit/system/usability testing; conducting software/system operation training for users; or serving as part of a problem solving team addressing more complex issues. Position Responsibilities * Develop and maintain custom applications in a combination of .NET platform languages, following established work policies and procedures. * Assist in the development, maintenance, and integration tasks of databases in SQL Server. * Develop data migration and integration processes for legacy systems. * Develop or implement procedures for ongoing web site revision. * Assist in decisions concerning databases and security of college data in both internal applications and integration with third party systems. * Author and execute workflow and testing plans for custom applications. * Work effectively in an environment with a team of other developers. * Detail oriented to deliver high quality software solutions. * Communicate effectively with users as necessary as a part of requirements gathering, prototyping, testing, and release development phases. * Be Customer Service oriented: communicate effectively with customers in the contexts of application troubleshooting, enhancement or bug reports, data source / connectivity, etc. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience * 2+ years of experience programming and implementing web applications in C# /ASP.NET in the Windows environment (IIS) * 2+ years of experience in SQL Server, including T-SQL, ADO.NET, SSIS, and knowledge of database objects * 2+ years of experience in web design technologies, including but not limited to: CSS, JavaScript / jQuery, XML and related web service document formats * Experience in direct customer interaction during all phases of the software development lifecycle * Experience in application development and support for multiple major browsers, particularly Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, and Google Chrome * Experience in integration focused projects * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Experience in managing multiple competing work tasks * Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 web standards * Knowledge of Content Management System Preferred * Pre-existing knowledge of the Washington State Community and Technical College System's internal data formats * Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Working Conditions: * Must have the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk / computer workstation. * Frequent repetitive arm, hand, and finger motions. * Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screen in performing work assignments. * Work in a semi-open office setting with frequent interruptions. * Be available for non-scheduled after hours support of software. * May need to carry, lift or move equipment up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
