Throughout its transformation, Surmodics' mission remains: to improve the detection and treatment of disease by using our technology to provide solutions to difficult medical device and diagnostic challenges.

The Associate QC Scientist is responsible for testingof raw materials, intermediates, and final products. Testing may be conducted for product release,stability testing, validation, and other purposes. This includes sample preparation, testing anddata analysis according to established procedures. The Associate QC Scientist may also performroutine instrument repair and calibration.

Testing (80%)

  • Prepare and analyze samples according toestablished test methods

  • Document testing following establishedprocedures

  • Calibrate instrumentation on a scheduled basis

  • Assist with equipment and test methodtroubleshooting

  • Support test method characterization andvalidation activities

Analyst (20%)

  • Act as intermediate precision analyst for testmethod development projects when appropriate

  • Provide recommendations for test method updateswhen necessary

  • Assist with special projects as assigned bysupervisor

  • Conduct routine laboratory housekeeping whennecessary

  • Assist with data archiving duties

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. degreein chemistry, biology or appropriate discipline

  • Minimum of 1 yearexperience in quality control or equivalent laboratory environment

  • Excellentorganizational skills and strong attention to detail

  • Basic technicalskills/knowledge

  • Basic written andverbal communication skills

  • Goodinterpersonal skills, team player

  • Computer skillsappropriate for work responsibilities, including data-acquisition software

  • Strongmulti-tasking skills
