The Research Pharma group in Groton CT is seeking an Associate Scientist to work in a team of research and technical staff engaged in the design and development of pharmaceutical dosage forms. The focus of the position is on generating high quality data for the development of drug product containing small molecule entities, with the ability to plan, prioritize and interpret your own work. The position is predominantly laboratory based, requiring 'hands-on' execution of lab experiments with the supervision of a scientific team leader. Activities include experimental design, execution, interpretation, documentation, reporting and communication of work to support formulation design and process development of solid, liquid, and topical dosage forms of appropriate quality (performance, manufacturability, and stability) for technology transfer to clinical pharmacies, clinical manufacturing (Drug Product Supply) or commercial manufacturing (Pfizer Global Supply) sites.
Utilize technical experience, fundamental scientific knowledge and agreed Best Practices in formulation design and development of both solids and liquids dosage forms for predominantly small molecules of pharmaceutical relevance.
Proactively address and/or solve formulation problems using the scientific method and appropriate experimental designs.
Capture key knowledge and formulation design/development activities and learnings in technical reports and share with the Drug Product Design community.
Progress your technical area of expertise through development of enhanced capabilities and applications to pharmaceutical issues.
Be a key team member providing formulation design and development support and project recommendations for partner lines.
Be a key member of the Drug Product Design discipline and collaborate with other Formulation colleagues to define and implement dosage form design and development strategies consistent with drug development timelines.
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 0-3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry desirable.
Demonstrated laboratory experimental proficiency, including the ability to easily learn and trouble-shoot laboratory equipment and machinery.
Excellent record keeping and communication skills
