Job Description Summary We have an excellent opportunity for an Associate Scientist to join our Mammalian Manufacturing Research and Technology group in beautiful Portsmouth on the NH seacoast. In this role, your primary responsibility will be investigating novel protein separation technology and purification process operations within the Mammalian Manufacturing Research and Technology group. You will be responsible for executing R&T protocols, experiments, and evaluations.

You will also be responsible for delivering completed evaluations and reports on the latest cell culture processes and technology.

Key Responsibilities:
Performs tasks for execution of routine lab studies with supervision (ordering, reagent prep, protocol/report writing, basic data analysis, documentation review, customer consults, etc.) Maintains equipment in accordance with SOPs Participates in shared activities associated with lab housekeeping Participates in regular safety audits and area 6S activities Interested?

What we need you to have: Degree in life sciences Several years of practical industry experience Demonstrated strong communication, technical writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) Experienced in aseptic technique and familiar with protein characterization assays Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy A strong R&D technological background in chromatography modelling and purification process development Basic knowledge of cell biology, protein structure, scale up, chromatography, UF/DF and virus filtrations Working knowledge of analytical techniques (UV/VIS, pH, Conductivity) Lonza is an equal opportunity employer. Job Description Summary • This individual is responsible for execution of Process Validation (PV)studies or associated PV support with intensive supervisory direction. The individual performs assigned duties according to specified procedures and receives detailed instructions. The individual performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures, and receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments. Able to work with intensive assistance and supervision on 1 to 3 types of module tasks concurrently. The individual is expected to be a subject matter expert for routine assignments and it is expected that questions on tasks or issues will be raised by this individual when clarification or greater technical expertise is required. Protocol Generation, Execution, and Reporting (Analysis) Able to work with intensive assistance and supervision on basic PV techniques of protocol development, execution, and reporting to ensure technical content is sufficient and accurate. This individual is expected to ask questions about content. Not approved to make protocol decisions (i.e. conclusions, product impact / validation impact assessment, corrective actions) without review of a higher level PV scientist or Manager. With assistance and prompting, understands the role of specifications, acceptance criteria, and sample plans within PV protocols. Basic knowledge of discipline including standard industry guidance as well as the purpose of the Validation exercise. Note: PV activities includes, but is not limited to, the following: PVP Generation, PPQ Protocols, Large Scale Resin Re-Use, UF Membrane Lifetime, Mixing Validation, Bioburden/Endotoxin Control, Media Pre-Filtration, Impurity Clearance, Intermediate Process Hold, Reprocessing Protocols, Chromatography Mock Runs, BPC Hold Studies. Quality Systems Discrepancies: Able to work with intensive assistance and supervision on process validation discrepancies or investigations to ensure to root cause, product/validation impact, and corrective actions are accurate. CAPA: Able to work with intensive assistance and supervision on minor process validation CAPA that are not the result of regulatory findings. SOPs: Revise with assistance. IPT / JPT/ Audits / Inspections Represents PV with supervision on internal and external project teams. Interfaces with customer technical and quality representatives on study related work with supervision. Provides regular updates on study related progress. Able to participate in customer audits with Sr. PV Scientist or Manager. Training / cGMP’s / Regulatory Follows all training and policy guidelines established for the facility as well as all cGMP requirements. Ensures employee training profile is up to date at all times by regular monitoring of training lists (e.g. Compliance Wire, SAP Learning Portal) and completing all training in a timely fashion.
