Summary of Position
This individual will work in a cell culture laboratory and be responsible for the expression of recombinant protein molecules in mammalian cells using various vector systems and selection methods. The candidate will be responsible for the generation and characterization of stable cell lines that express candidate clinical molecules or related proteins. Responsibilities include stable and transient transfections, screening and selection of stable cell lines, evaluation of cell culture conditions, biochemical assays and data analysis.
Responsibilities
Maintains mammalian cell cultures and cell lines by following the appropriate procedures and utilizing the correct media and supplements .
Performs stable and transient transfections; Screen stable cell lines for growth and protein of interest to select the best candidate cell lines for protein expression.
Performs fed-batch processes with selected cell lines to generate protein of interest for downstream analysis of protein quality and
Monitors and optimizes cell culture processes and conditions to achieve optimal protein expression.
Evaluate new equipment, technologies or materials to improve or enhance cell line development processes and workflows.
Collects, analyzes, and summarizes experiments for data storage, sharing and presentations.
Maintains accurate and timely records of all experiments and data in notebooks and in digital format.
Maintains laboratory and laboratory equipment in optimal functioning condition. Reports any problems to supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
Associate Scientist II
or
Associate Scientist I
or
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfections, maintaining cell lines, etc.
Meticulous laboratory practices and sterile technique.
Experience with quantitative assays (OCTET, ELISA, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with other team members
Experience with standard laboratory software for data analysis (EXCEL, Prism, etc.).
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Willingness to work on occasional weekends.
Preferred Experience
Experience with small-scale or bench-top bioreactors.
Experience with automated liquid handling methods.
