The Associate Scientific Education and Training Director will play an integral role in supporting Product Development, Medical Affairs, and in particular, the MSL team. The Associate Scientific Education and Training Director, under the guidance of the Senior Director of Scientific Education and Training, will provide strategic operational and scientific support of key initiatives to ensure their successful implementation.

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the assessment of educational needs based on life-cycle management and disease area requirements.

  • Drive the development and implementation of educational initiatives in a manner consistent with best practices and applicable law, regulations, and relevant SOPs.

  • Serves as a key clinical/scientific resource to the field medical team and internal colleagues by providing ongoing product and disease state education via live training or WebEx.

  • Provide training support to Product Development through support of annual Development Day as well as generation of scientific education material and functional training tools.

  • Oversees field medical affairs (FMA) information technology and training resources, including websites and CRM software (Scoop, BOX, Delphire, Survey Monkey).

  • Provide strategic and operational support to the MSL team through field insight analysis and MSL activity analysis.

  • Regularly assesses the operational needs of FMAs and drives the implementation and execution of operational projects, soliciting vendor proposals as needed.

  • In collaboration with internal meeting planner, assists with coordination of various Medical Affairs meeting planning and logistics.

  • Assist with creation of strategy and aligned processes in support of MSL activities (i.e., proactive and reactive field initiatives) in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

  • Works effectively with MSLs and management at all levels throughout the Exelixis organization; interacts with high level clients as well as managed care organizations.

  • Assist in the design and implementation of policies and procedures to drive appropriate conduct as well as meeting Medical Affairs objectives.

  • Serve as a mentor and trainer for the MSL team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None; however, will serve as a positive role model and/or mentor to other Medical Affairs colleagues. This should occur during routine interactions or as a formal assignment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Education

  • Accredited doctorate degree in a basic-science or life-science discipline (Pharm.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., D.N.P., or M.D./D.O.) or Master's level oncology PA or NP with active progress towards completion of doctorate degree preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years as an MSL in therapeutic oncology preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong teaching skills; established track record of effective oral presentations.

  • Training experience a plus.

  • Expertise in critically evaluating the appropriate scientific literature .

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of FDA compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong analytical capabilities.

  • Skilled in Excel and Power Point; ability to grasp new applications with minimal direction.

  • Possess exceptional communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholder.

  • Ability to travel, locally and regionally combined, up to 50% weekly as well as nationally for major medical/scientific and company meetings.

VIEW JOBS 11/20/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-18T00:00 SUMMARY: This position can be remote or based in Alameda, CA Scientific Communications is a department within Medical Affairs with responsibility over development of scientific resources and tools for the Medical Science Liaison team and Medical Affairs leadership, coordination of the medical education grants and sponsorships program, and congress planning and support. The candidate will report to the Senior Director of Scientific Communications with an initial focus on management of the medical education grant program and the development of scientific resources and tools. This role will provide an outstanding opportunity to work in a cross-functional environment. Strong computer and communication skills, attention to detail, and the demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and manage projects are essential to success. Position Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Manage the system administration of the Request Management System (RMS), the portal for submission of medical education grant and sponsorship requests, including registration and problem solving for system users, as well as the interaction with the system vendor for support o Triage incoming grant requests for relevance and appropriateness based on the approved Grants Plan and the Grants SOP o Manage Grant committee meetings, including documentation of the agenda and outcomes o Evaluate final CME program content for quality, accuracy, and bias for supported programs o Review and evaluate outcomes reports and financial reconciliation for supported programs * Identify, develop and maintain scientific resources and tools for field medical teams and senior management, including lifecycle management for current approved field materials o Development of the tactical plan for the management of MSL/Medical Affairs resources o Identify and develop new resources in support of Medical Affairs initiatives o Manage regulatory review of materials o Identify and evaluate new Medical Communication vendors to support ongoing initiatives o Vendor management o Develop product and disease state expertise and keep abreast of the changing drug development environment * As needed, contribute to other ongoing projects within the Scientific Communications group, including development of congress materials and congress planning. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * None at this time EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Education: * Doctorate level degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) with at least five years of related experience; or, * Master's level degree in related discipline and eight years of related experience; or, * Equivalent combination of education and experience.
