Job Summary

Associate Risk Analyst:

The CITGO Commercial Risk & Pricing team is responsible for ensuring that CITGO Supply & Trading activity is appropriately classified, measured and controlled for Risk. As a member of this team (Associate Analyst, Analyst, or Senior Analyst) you will be responsible for analyzing one or more portfolios and reporting on risk exposure and mark-to-market P/L on a daily basis. You should be comfortable working with various roles in the front-, mid-, and back-offices, including traders, schedulers, and finance and accounting professionals. Emphasis will be placed on the timeliness, completeness and accuracy of your analysis and reporting.

Risk Analyst:

The CITGO Commercial Risk & Pricing team is responsible for ensuring that CITGO Supply & Trading activity is appropriately classified, measured and controlled for Risk. As a member of this team (Associate Analyst, Analyst, or Senior Analyst) you will be responsible for analyzing one or more portfolios and reporting on risk exposure and mark-to-market P/L on a daily basis. You should be comfortable working with various roles in the front-, mid-, and back-offices, including traders, schedulers, and finance and accounting professionals. Emphasis will be placed on the timeliness, completeness and accuracy of your analysis and reporting.

Senior Risk Analyst:

The senior Risk Analyst role is responsible for capturing, measuring, and reporting CITGO's trading activity results by establishing risk management reports, processes, and tools; developing strategies for risk management; interfacing with the commercial trading, compliance, and finance organizations; and championing risk management practices and culture through training. This function will provide analysis for forward price curve development, daily mark-to-market analysis, risk limits, and reporting of economic P&L for physical and financial trading positions

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Risk Analyst:

Degree:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Accounting, Systems, Math, or Engineering.

  • Master's Degree Preferred.

The minimum number of years of job related experience required by this job is:

  • 0 - 2 years of professional work experience

List any specialized training or unique skills required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, and conflict management

Risk Analyst:

Degree:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Master's Degree (MBA) Preferred.

The minimum number of years of job related experience required by this job is:

  • 2 - 7 years of professional work experience in Finance, Accounting, Risk, Operations or Trading on a commodity trade floor, or Masters (or greater) degree equivalent in a relevant field of study (MBA, Energy Risk Management, Data Analytics, etc.)

List any specialized training or unique skills required:

  • Proficiency with ETRM systems (ION RightAngle, etc.) and/or analytics tools (Power BI, Alteryx, etc.).

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills, teamwork and conflict management.

Senior Risk Analyst:

Degree:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Master's Degree (MBA) Preferred.

The minimum number of years of job related experience required by this job is:

  • 7+ years combined professional work experience in Finance, Accounting, Risk, Operations or Trading on a commodity trade floor, or Masters (or greater) degree equivalent in a relevant field of study (MBA, Energy Risk Management, Data Analytics preferred).

List any specialized training or unique skills required:

  • Expert proficiency in daily risk processes and systems (ION RightAngle ETRM, Alteryx, Power BI, etc.).

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills, teamwork and conflict management.

Job Duties

Associate Risk Analyst:

  • Publish daily mark-to market- P/L and risk exposure position reports to the front office and executive management.

  • Monitor mark- to- market P/L and risk exposure positions against internal limits and controls.

  • Provide commentary to explain daily mark-to-market change, including curve shift and new or changed deal activity.

  • Contribute to accurate measurement (including confirmation of prices and risk positions) and troubleshooting of value-at-risk for your portfolio(s)

Risk Analyst:

  • Publish daily mark-to market- P/L and risk exposure position reports to the front office and executive management.

  • Monitor mark- to- market P/L and risk exposure positions against internal limits and controls.

  • Provide commentary to explain daily mark-to-market change, including curve shift and new or changed deal activity.

  • Contribute to accurate measurement (including confirmation of prices and risk positions) and troubleshooting of value-at-risk for your portfolio(s)

  • Contribute to excellence and continuous improvement in risk reporting processes, including development of new tools, deployment of new technologies, etc.

  • Train and develop less experienced analysts in risk processes and systems.

  • Display ETRM system expertise and thorough understanding of vaulation inputs and troubleshooting.

Senior Risk Analyst:

  • Publish daily mark-to market- P/L and risk exposure position reports to the front office and executive management.

  • Monitor mark- to- market P/L and risk exposure positions against internal limits and controls.

  • Provide commentary to explain daily mark-to-market change, including curve shift and new or changed deal activity.

  • Contribute to accurate measurement (including confirmation of prices and risk positions) and troubleshooting of value-at-risk for your portfolio(s)

  • Contribute to excellence and continuous improvement in risk reporting processes, including development of new tools, deployment of new technologies, etc.

  • Train and develop less experienced analysts in risk processes and systems.

  • Display ETRM system expertise and thorough understanding of valuation inputs and troubleshooting.

  • Serve as a resident expert on the trade floor to resolve ETRM data discrepancies resulting from user error, improper configuration, etc.

  • Display understanding of full deal lifecycle and be willing and able to lift the performance of the whole risk team in challenging moments (end of month, system upgrades, etc.)

  • Assume lead role in ETRM and other IT-driven projects and testing.
