Summary/Objective: Recommends and leads platform technology development for new products/processes of a highly complex technical nature which can significantly impact the profitable growth of the corporation.
Plans and executes major technology and product projects, including those directed toward new platforms or significant derivative products. Compiles and analyzes research data to establish performance standards for newly designed systems. Assesses the feasibility and soundness of evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or conformation by testing is advisable. Synthesizes solutions based on multiple disciplines.
Assists in training and development of innovators and innovation specialists. Assists with project feasibility and project management.
Acts as consultant to management on technical and project-related matters. Serves as a functional expert. Identifies mentoring and development needs; serves as a mentor for other employees May supervise junior level technical professionals.
Communicates and coordinates with other technical resources to provide recommendations, lessons learned, methods for problem-solving, analysis methodology, etc. to maximize contribution to multiple projects or programs. Leads more complex or multifunctional team(s).
Externally recognized as a Thought Leader in key technology focus area. Maintains advanced level of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices, and/or participating in professional associations.

Required Education and Experience:
Doctorate Degree in an engineering, science, or technical field. Degrees in materials engineering
More than 10 years of related experience
Experience or interest in materials and material applications
Experience motivating or coordinating with a multidisciplinary team
Required Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of key technical principles, methods, and techniques
Effective data analysis and problem solving skills
Effective organization level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Education and Experience:
Hands-on experience in successful product and technology development
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Key Subject Matter expertise and external stature as a Subject Matter Expert
