Position Summary:

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in performing research in areas of organic chemistry, chemistry, physical chemistry and/or electrochemistry. This position requires the use of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of discipline or specialty for the development, design, implementation and execution of scientific research for the preparation of technical reports and manuscripts for publication. The individual in this position will organize experimental and/or technical results, prepare reports, publish technical journal articles, and make technical presentations at conferences and symposia; and train and/or supervise hands-on training of student assistants, graduate students, and technicians.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or Electrochemistry

Maximum of two years since awarding of degree

Directly related work experience and graduate level training in Organic Chemistry, Chemistry, or Electrochemistry

Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Masters degree in Organic Chemistry Chemistry, or Electrochemistry or a related chemistry discipline

Knowledge and proven experience in organic synthesis, chromatography, corrosion electrochemistry, scanning Kelvin probe techniques and chemical kinetics

Experience using electrochemical software and instrumentation for the characterization of corrosion behavior of materials

Experience using spectroscopic techniques for materials surface analysis as they relate to corrosion

Knowledge and experience in the interpretation of polarization potential-current diagrams and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy as they relate to corrosion

Ability to collaborate with contemporaries in related fields leading to the growth of funding opportunities is preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of chemical synthesis technologies and electrochemical analysis techniques
