The Associate, Energy & REC markets will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and integrated into Spruce's corporate development group. Since mid-2019, Spruce has acquired and financed nearly 150 megawatts of residential solar assets. As a member of the Corporate Development team, this role will provide critical insight in a fast-paced, deal focused environment.

Spruce is headquartered in Houston, with a presence in San Francisco & Boulder.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide insight related to U.S. SREC/REC markets to support the Company's M&A and portfolio management/optimization goals

  • Work directly with SREC/REC buyers & brokers to develop strategies for monetizing environmental attributes to both maximize value and reduce overall risk to the platform

  • Provide retail and wholesale energy markets expertise to support Spruce's M&A and underwriting efforts related to community solar, C&I, and other solar and energy assets where retail or wholesale power prices are a value driver

  • Provide insight related to state and national-level policy which may impact the value of environmental attributes, retail power, net metering, etc.


  • Minimum 2 years experience in a role with primary focus on buying, selling or trading environmental attributes

  • Deep understanding of SREC/REC market dynamics across various markets

  • Direct or indirect experience negotiating SREC purchase agreements

  • General experience with U.S. wholesale and retail power markets preferred

The Project Director will lead client-facing teams in the design, implementation, and management of organizational sustainability and resilience programs. Duties and Responsibilities: * Leading strategic client engagements around corporate sustainability, climate risk management, and resilience strategy and TCFD alignment * Developing entity-wide, asset-level, and supply and value chain climate risk, resilience, and adaptive capacity assessments * Designing climate risk management and resilience performance targets, metrics, and accompanying strategies and achievement plans * Identifying and evaluating opportunities to reduce physical and transition risks and enhance sustainability and resilience across an enterprise and within communities * Advising on TCFD alignment, implementation, scenario analysis, and methods to integrate climate considerations entity-wide * Researching and contributing to leading sustainability, climate risk, and resilience programs and initiatives * Developing TCFD reports, disclosures, and other communications * Managing business development activities with existing and prospective clients Talent is the essence of meeting our client's objectives, goals and challenges.
