Brief Job Overview/Summary
The Associate Provost for Curriculum and Compliance participates in the development of division-wide academic programs; provides managerial direction, support, and service to the academic units; serves as a liaison with faculty, administrators, and other constituents of the University, as well as with external stakeholders and does related work as required. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Provost for Curriculum and Compliance will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Curriculum and Compliance:
Provides oversight and service as a resource for new academic program development and initiatives, and serves as a liaison to the Faculty Senate Committee on Academic Programs and Planning
Assists in preparing feedback to the Academic Issues Committee of the New Jersey Presidents' Council
Serves as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation liaison officer and final level of review for all professional accreditation submissions
Serves as lead articulation liaison responsible for initiating, reviewing, maintaining, and updating articulation agreements
Coordinates and organizes the review of the University MOAs, academic policies, and procedures needed for divisional initiatives
Academic Policies and Procedures:
Provides oversight and serves as a resource and liaison for academic policies and procedures; is a non-voting member of the Faculty Senate Committee on Academic Policies and Procedures
Interprets and revises academic policies and procedures as necessary
Other Responsibilities:
Provides oversight, including supervision of directors, and assistance shaping vision and leadership, and serves as a liaison between other units and the Academic Assessment Office, including Academic Program Reviews
Serves as the Academic Affairs representative for reporting (i.e., Clery, NC Sara, US News and World Reports)
Verifies data as needed and serves as a liaison to the Office of Institutional Research
Works productively to collaborate with other members of the Provost's Office and Academic Affairs leadership team
Other duties as assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs or their designee
Required Qualifications:
Terminal degree in one's field from an accredited institution
5 years' work experience in an academic career in an institution of higher education
Minimum 3 years experience in an academic leadership position/role in a higher education setting
Direct engagement with any level (academic, institutional, state, or regional) of approval/accreditation processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a unionized environment
Experience in academic policy and procedure
Experience in academic program development
Visitor on an accreditation site review team
