The Associate Project Manager is responsible for managing small to medium-scale projects and ensuring that all projects are aligned with organizations and departments strategic priorities as well as its brand and communication strategy. The Associate Project Manager works with a wide variety of audiences across the organization (Examples include: Marketing, Admissions, Advising)

Essential Duties

  • Work with departments/stakeholders on approved projects to determine goals/requirements, scope, and timeline needed to facilitate and coordinate project deliverables. ·

  • Interface with vendors and project team to verify that there is a clear understanding of project outcomes and timelines.

  • Projects may be specific to a department with some cross-functionality. ·

  • Manage the day-to-day details of the project including the plan, schedule, resources, task assignments, scope, issues and risks.

  • Track progress and monitor all development activities. ·

  • Facilitate project meetings. Brief the project team on status reporting, problem resolution, feedback, and input from the team on project planning and execution. ·

  • Adhere to project methodology including proper documentation as well as the original plan, any working papers, status reports, meeting minutes, issue logs and any other documentation related to the management and administration of the project. ·

  • Coordinate production support & maintenance activities, including launch planning.

Job Skills

  • Knowledge and application of project management principles

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft SharePoint or Excel and using Pivot Tables is a plus

  • Demonstrates a solution-focused attitude with the ability to solve problems in a collaborative manner

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to manage complex and varied interpersonal relationships to successfully complete projects and implement change

  • Excellent ability to organize time and detailed information to successfully manage and complete multiple projects

  • Displays sense of urgency

  • Accurately delivers information on time Experience

  • Demonstration of project management experience under tight deadlines, with emphasis being placed on individual's ability to successfully manage projects and utilize leadership and strategic thinking skills

  • Ability to organize information, manage tasks and projects and use available tools to effectively contribute to organization

  • Ability to express oneself effectively within groups and in one-to-one conversations. Conveys information clearly and effectively through both formal and informal documents

  • Experience or knowledge of agile project management methodology is a plus

Work Experience

  • 1-3 years project management experience

  • Workfront (preferred) or other project management software experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, post graduate work in business, or project management preferred

Other

  • Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 - 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 - 10%).

  • Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.

  • If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.

  • Faculty and Federal Work Study roles require access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including computer, privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.

  • This role may require lifting, however reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with our ADA policies.

  • Must be able to meet critical thinking and problem solving aspects aligned to job duties, as well as effectively communicating with co-workers.

  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant. Accommodations related to schedule may be considered.

  • Able to access information using a computer.

$54,500.00 - $81,900.00 - Salary
