As a Associate Project Manager, need to lead the execution of projects within the factory by managing all project related activities within the factory from purchase order to shipment and own the commercial and technical communication to the field project teams and customers, Electrification Distribution Solutions.

This position reports to

Project Operations Manager

Your responsibilities

  • Engage with the proposal team to review orders from a technical and commercial standpoint during order entry. Ensure customer requirements are in line with ABB contractual obligations.

  • Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and ABB policies.

  • Act as the primary contact for all order-related matters to the various stakeholders outside of the factory. Manage the entire order-cycle including scheduling, delivery of drawings, execution in the shop, on-time shipment, invoicing coordination, and closing. Provide status/progress updates to all stakeholders with appropriate level of detail.

  • Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow. Support all aspects of orders to enhance shipped margin opportunities. Under general direction, resolve disputes involving invoicing, back charges, escalation, delays, and warranty charges.

  • Identifies, qualifies, quantifies and manages risk, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued.

  • Responsible for quotation and booking of change orders. Initiate price change requests, apply mark-ups, prepare quotations and implement schedule changes, as appropriate.

  • Ensures that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.

  • Captures, analyzes and shares lessons learned throughout the project.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally in a coordinated and professional way to create a team environment that achieves project success.

Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • 5+ or more years of experience in Electrification, Manufacturing or Project Management

  • Knowledge of Project Management disciplines and process.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and knowledge in power systems and protection-related matters.

  • Must be familiar and have practical experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, SAP and other applicable software.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Must be self-motivated with a high level of creativity.

  • Travel is approximately 5%.

  • Complex problem-solving skills required.

  • Strong conflict resolution skills required.

  • Experience in dealing with the cultural diversity of a global business environment.

In this role, will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area of business segment in Electrification Distribution Solutions. Reporting to the Project Management Office Manager, will be the primary interface with the client focused on ensuring contractual obligations are met on time and on budget, while achieving customer satisfaction. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. Your responsibilities * Create and execute project work plans to meet changing client needs and requirements at various customer work sites in the US, focused in the commercial construction markets and may include, but are not limited to, retail, airports, entertainment, hospitals, education (schools, colleges, universities) and multi-story residential * Primary customer contact for day-to-day operational aspects of project and scope * Effectively communicate and negotiate change orders for margin enhancement * Accountable for revenue recognition, timely and accurate invoicing, and eliminating disputes/past dues * Manage and analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization. * Effectively facilitate project status reviews with clients and internal project team & oversee all interaction with key suppliers and the ordering of materials for the project * Ensures a clear understanding of the project contractual requirements by the project team * Identify and suggest improvements to processes and procedures * Ensure HSE standard is fulfilled during project execution * Using ABB value pairs increase overall organization effectiveness Your background * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 3 additional years of project management, engineering or manufacturing and an additional 3 years in a lead capacity implementing projects in a field environment OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of experience in an engineering or project management position. * Highly Analytical / Clear Thinker with Proven Project Management skills, including creative issue resolution. * Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in English. * Ability and willingness to travel, as required. * University degree preferably in electrical/energy/mechanical engineering with experience in Electrical Distribution business. * Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively manage a matrix team / organization. * Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and sense of urgency in dealing with tasks. * Ability to interface and build strong relationships with customers and management at various levels. * Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
