Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing product changes and projects throughout all stages of the project as well as managing the GCM process according to the guidelines, for smaller, local or regional and/or C-categorized projects or subprojects.

Essential Functions:

  • Assess, plan and manage the implementation of product changes / projects for Bendix CVS/Bendix-Spicer product lines from Initiation through Plant Production Launch. .

  • Responsible to ensure product changes / projects comply with internal and customer safety, product safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives, and adhere to quality standards. Directly responsible to meet customer expected delivery on all applicable product changes.

  • Communicate product change / project progress and facilitate issue resolution, internally with Corporate and Plant functions, and with external customers.

  • Develop cost estimates on product changes and projects, which may include Supplier / Plant tooling, equipment, testing equipment, and packaging. Coordinate customer-specific price quotations on new work, and collect information for proper quotations from other functions as appropriate.

  • Use internal computer systems (TeamCenter, SAP) to input, track and complete product change requests.

  • Generate & publish Metrics for current status indication to respective business groups Communicate the progress, status, and issues of product changes / responsible/affected CoC's and plants.

  • Actively contribute to GCM and other process improvement activities

  • Perform Key User activities for GCM system, including training other users on the Global Change Management system and performing testing with system upgrades.

  • Ensure adequate and appropriate resources are assigned to launch product changes / projects and escalate significant issues..

  • Determine and procure necessary funding for product change / project implementation. Initiate formal funding requests as required by internal policies and guidelines. Responsible for monitoring and reporting product change / project expenses to Management.

  • Manage Customer Engineering Notification/Change Management Process, Customer Specific Requirements, and Internal Audits per QS/ISO Standards. Establish/ maintain procedures for maintaining documents and change control of documents.

  • Lead /support other Product Change or Launch Project Teams as required and directed, including coordination of the required cross-functional activities.


  • Experience and knowledge related to the automotive manufacturing industry, heavy duty truck industry experience preferred.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English


  • Product Development and Manufacturing experience required.

  • Cross Functional Project Management experience required.

  • Experience in a highly matrixed organization

  • 5 years related experience required

They practice project management methodologies and can adapt easily to different styles. In addition to normal project management activities, the Software Project Manager may also perform several functions at once depending on the needs of the team(s), such as: * Process improvement and coaching * Hiring and recruiting for the Development Team(s) * Requirements gathering * Customer relationship building * Solutions architecture * Quality assurance / testing * Software development ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Participates in discovery sessions with customers to understand the problem and "t-shirt size" projects * Assists in requirements gathering and documenting user stories with the Development Team * Assists with prioritizing at both the project level and within projects to ensure a minimum viable product can be delivered first * Works with the Customer and Development Team to define an appropriate scope and schedule for projects, with a strong preference toward agile approaches * Supports the Customer / Product Owner by resolving questions and issues quickly, managing expectations, and assisting/owning communication with stakeholders * Keeps communication channels open and ensures tight feedback loops between the Customer and Development Team * Champions ongoing process improvement and project management techniques while realizing that every project is different * Mentors and develops team members * Assists with organizational planning, recruiting & hiring, budgets, presentations to management & customers, co-op program administration, statement of work preparation, high level communications to the business on project status, and other management functions SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES While the Software Project Manager may not have direct reports, they will play a key role in evaluating the performance of teams, organizational planning, hiring, budgets, etc. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
