Working as an Associate Project Engineer, you will be the authority/support person for various engineering projects in Automation & Electrification Service, Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN) in Cleveland, Ohio, providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals. You will be based in Cleveland, OH responsible for assisting in designing engineering solutions, including preparing drawings, calculations, bills of materials, engineering instructions and processes. In this role, you will create or modify pre-engineered designs for equipment, systems or installations by applying standard design concepts

Your responsibilities

  • Work as part of an integrated design team to meet project requirements and deliverables

  • Design installation plans and site work packages

  • Assist in identifying the necessary system orders for ABB equipment and/or third party equipment

  • Review third party vendor equipment submittals to align with contract drawings, technical specifications and IO (Input Output) database

  • Review contract drawings, P&IDs, IO databases and site electrical drawings

  • Assist in generation of markups, loop drawings, termination drawings, and review check prints

  • Verify the work performed by electrical subcontractors

  • Functional testing of electrical equipment during commissioning

  • Documentation and delivery of proper forms confirming system completion and conformity with established quality documents

  • Assist in site walkdowns and provide installation supervision

  • Assembly of field wiring, system control and HMI (Human Machine Interface) equipment cabinets

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately up to 30 percent of the time

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or similar

  • Up to 2 years of experience in design and execution, working as an Installation Engineer with Distributed Control Systems preferred

  • Sound knowledge of installation engineering techniques, processes and tools

  • Knowledge of Microsoft, CAD and electrical drawings

  • Initiative, creativity and great attention to detail

  • A collaborative, solution focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills

  • Candidates must be able to read, write and speak English fluently

  • Reimbursement for relocation is not available

  • Up to 30% domestic travel, opportunity for international

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US. We are unable to sponsor an employment visa at this time for this role.
