Job Overview:

Under general supervision, assists in the development and preparation of multiple Project Controls deliverables.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Supports development of deliverables

  • Assist with change order preparation and processing, project cost analysis and reporting

  • Assists in consolidation of functional reporting

  • Support development and maintenance of the cost forecast work sheets supporting the process

  • Assist leads and functional managers in weekly/ monthly reporting requirements including change estimates, time charging, staffing plan updates, progress and forecast input.

  • Assist in analyzing budgets, cost, and change management information as it applies to required project reporting.

  • Be aware or have knowledge of the contractual invoicing process and interfaces.

  • Assist Lead Cost Specialist with the Project Forecasting Process and setup reviews of discipline/functional forecasts.

  • Assist in development and maintenance of the project cash flow.

Basic Qualifications:

  • College graduate or 2 years of Project Controls experience.

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction and/or Project Management

  • Ability to work as a team member as well as act as team leader.

  • Has good working knowledge and understanding of cost, schedule, estimating and accounting basic terminology, principles and practices.

  • Must possess analytical skills

  • Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken.

  • Computer literate on Microsoft programs: Word, Access, Power Point, Excel, Project.

Utilizing the project services procedures, the Senior Project Controls Specialist is responsible for the development and maintenance of the project schedule, budgets, forecasts, trending/change, progress measuring, reports, invoice support, review and analysis. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years professional experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: * Utilizing the approved scope of work detailed in the project cost, time and resource (CTR) sheets, document register, and working with the project team, generates the project schedule at the level required to meet contract requirements * If required, reviews other shareholder planning and scheduling input with project management prior to inputting into the project schedule * Working with the project team and utilizing the management of change system and any other source approved by project management updates the schedule on the approved cycle * Reviews scope of work and CTRs with the project manager to ensure understanding of project scope and goals for meeting client requirements * Update project man hour and cost files utilizing financial data * Develop the cost management system to include man hour and cost reports, trend and change order tracking matrix, histograms, man hour and cost expenditure curves, progress curves, and all special client or project requirements; * Prepares monthly report schedule and cost input * Develops, and maintains the management of change system * Analyzes all data to ensure it meets project requirements and is correctly reported * Support the finance department in the preparation and review of project invoices * Develop and maintain the progress measuring system utilizing the document register as the basis * Comply with all the quality management system procedures and HSE requirements Skills / Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a recognized Business Administration program * Minimum of 10 years experience in engineering controls, cost control, scheduling and project reporting. Experience within the Oil & Gas sector a strong asset * Membership in AACE International or PMI a plus * Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English, with the ability to create quality reports * Strong computer skills in Primavera, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, Word, and Oracle EBS * Well-developed analytical, interpersonal and teamwork skills * Excellent time management and organisational skills; with the ability to meet deadlines * Strong knowledge and understanding of successful project management practices.
