Come make a difference at Ochsner Health and discover your future today This position is part of the system Diversity, Equity & Inclusion department within the HR Division and leads Supplier Diversity projects and initiatives, as well as provides professional-level administrative support to DEI department leadership. The primary responsibilities associated with this position include leveraging project management, change management, and process improvement capabilities to help support and grow the Supplier Diversity program.

This position is responsible for developing and driving the communication strategy aimed at increasing awareness of Supplier Diversity, and will serve as a coach for internal and external stakeholders involved in the program.

The administrative support responsibilities associated with this position include typing, sorting, filing, photocopying, maintaining calendars, booking travel, submitting expense reports, and ordering supplies. This position may also create documents such as memos, emails, and other correspondences using Outlook, the Microsoft suite, and other software programs as needed.

This position will also serve as the primary point of contact for department leadership including answering calls, relaying messages, and escalating issues to the appropriate person/group as needed.

This position may also be tasked with organizing special projects and events such as team retreats and meetings. Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, finance, public health, health care administration or related field. Work Experience Required

  • 5 years of experience in relevant field such as healthcare operations, finance, industrial engineering, and/or organizational development including 1 year project management / change management / process improvement / healthcare experience; OR 3 years relevant experience with a master's degree Certifications Preferred

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification or equivalent (Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Black Belt or Master Change Agent). Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.

    Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent judgment, organization skills, group facilitation skills, decision making, and delegating skills. Ability to be self-directed, work independently, set project priorities, and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

    Ability to demonstrate a strong sense of personal accountability for work. Ability to travel throughout and between facilities. Job Duties Work with local chambers and business groups to identify prospective vendors/contractors Coordinate implementation of supplier diversity programs, procedures and policies to increase utilization of diverse vendors and contractors Coordinate vendor fairs, reverse expos and other events that increase knowledge of Ochsner contracting processes and opportunities for local diverse vendors.

    Work with stakeholders to establish, monitor and report on quarterly and annual targets; conducts evidence-based research, manages data collection, and conducts analysis and reporting for stakeholders. Monitor internal procedures to ensure compliance with organizational goals and objectives. Coordinate the registration process of local vendors/contractors in the Supplier Diversity portal for the Health System.

    Assist various internal leaders in the benchmarking of existing local spend as well as monitors their tracking of progress toward system goals. Attend outreach events to ensure awareness of local vendors in the community. Establish business cases supporting local sourcing recommendations based on input from various sources.

    Actively leads project efforts through entire project life cycle including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing. Enables an effective project communication strategy through active communications with project stakeholders and the program leader. Serves as instructor for strategic program management training programs.

    Conducts coaching/consulting engagements leveraging project management, change management, and process improvement core capabilities. Provides administrative support to the department leadership (AVPs). Generates and maintains documents, reports, correspondences, and performs other duties related to computer programs and systems support for the department. Maintains the calendars, books travel, submits expense reports, and orders supplies for department leadership as needed.

    Manages special projects and team meetings/retreats for the department. Serves as a primary point of contact to those outside of the department. Performs other related duties as required.

    Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid. The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
