Associate Professor: MFT and Clinical Training Coordinator
Talbot School of Theology is accepting applications for a full-time faculty/Clinical Training Coordinator position for the Master of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy program to be launched in Fall 2020. Interviews will be conducted in Spring 2020 for a Fall 2020 start date. The position requires a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy or PsyD in Counseling Psychology with Marriage and Family Therapy Training, MFT license or license eligibility in the State of California and AAMFT-Approved Supervisor designation or Candidate.
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to teaching graduate courses, coordinating practicum experiences, engaging in academic advising, participating in department, college and university service, engaging in some scholarly activity, and maintain familiarity with COAMFTE accreditation requirements, Board of Behavioral Science requirements for licensure, as well as national professional organizations' requirements, policies, procedures and codes of ethics.
Teach graduate courses within the MFT program.
Maintain familiarity with COAMFTE accreditation requirements, Board of Behavioral Science requirements for licensure, as well as national professional organizations' requirements, policies, procedures and codes of ethics.
Supervise MFT trainees.
Assist students with all aspects of clinical training placement, including providing trainings on practicum and internship requirements and assessing students' readiness for clinical practice.
Manage all documentation for student clinical experiences including practicum manual, student client contact hours, and clinical skills and professional development overtime.
Develop, approve, and maintain community practicum sites. Facilitate annual practicum fairs with CAMFT and other MFT programs to allow students and site supervisors to interact and explore placement options.
Review student, site, and practicum instructor documentation to insure compliance with program mandates, and supervisor the maintenance of student compliance with training requirements and data collection.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Earned doctorate in MFT or a closely related field required (COAMFTE accredited program preferred)
Licensed or license-eligible Marriage & Family Therapist in the State of California, AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate, AAMFT Clinical Fellow or Pre-Clinical Fellow required.
Minimum of two years' experience as a Licensed MFT, providing services to diverse populations in community based settings and providing clinical supervision and training.
Good supervisory skills of both people and projects.
Proficient with Mac and PC computers, Microsoft Office, Google Applications, and Adobe Acrobat.
Understanding of and commitment to the mission of Talbot School of Theology.
Strong, stable, mature Christian faith.
Maintain a lifestyle consistent with sound Christian principles and standards of conduct promulgated by the institution.
Training and experience in spiritual direction preferred.
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, some evidence of scholarly activity, and potential to make contributions to their scholarly fields.
Candidates must be willing to relocate in order to work in-residence at Talbot's campus in La Mirada, CA.
