SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Production Associate is primarily responsible for the assembly and delivery of patient meals and nourishment. In addition, the Production Associate inventories/stocks floor kitchen units, performs tasks in the dishroom and pot/pan unit, and cleans assigned work areas and equipment. The Production Associate promotes favorable guest relations and continuously expresses the core values and philosophy of the hospital in daily activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Able to perform basic math functions and have reading skills.

  • Prior knowledge of diet modifications and/or oral and enteral feedings preferred.

  • Previous food service experience preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Follows detailed written and oral instructions. Completes specific, routine tasks. Requires basic reading, writing or simple arithmetic skills. May operate basic equipment/machinery.

  • PROBLEM SOLVING/DECISION MAKING:

Work is routine. Makes decisions based on detailed procedures; technical aids generally available. Has clear cut alternative available and usually follows a specified course of action.

  • SCOPE OF IMPACT/ACCOUNTABILITY:

Impact is generally focused on immediate work areas. May also affect closely related activities in other work units or teams on a temporary basis. Influence is indirect and supportive in nature. Accountability is restricted. Activities are usually assigned by others.

PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Serves food on the patient tray line in accordance with the patients' menus and is attentive to the accuracy of items, portion sizes and meal presentation. Accurately prepares, labels, and stores oral and enteral feeding supplements. Operates the dish machine, pot/pan machine, and tray line equipment according to proper equipment procedures. Cleans equipment and work areas in a sanitary manner during daily activities and completes special cleaning tasks as assigned. Adheres to scheduled hours and break times. Plans and performs work in an organized manner and is able to complete job duties within scheduled shift. Displays adaptability and flexibility in handling unexpected changes in work volume and/or meeting emergency situations. Works independently with minimal direct supervision from supervisors. Attends/participates in hospital, departmental and unit meetings, and in activities as needed. Communicates effectively with coworkers, supervisors, patients, hospital and non-hospital personnel. Adheres to standard policies and procedures within the hospital and department.
