The Associate Product Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Product Management and Product Managers with all aspects of product lifecycle management for the given category. The Associate Product Line Manager works as part of a cross-functional team to maximize growth and profitability in the assigned product portfolio.

The Associate Product Manager will assist with a variety of product management and marketing activities including, but not limited to: new product development, lifecycle management, coordination of marketing literature, packaging, and merchandising; conducting market research; organizing literature and product needs for various trade shows and events; participating in strategic planning efforts; and other similar duties necessary for the product and marketing activities of the Commercial Government business.


  • Work cross functionally as part of a team with Product Management, Customer Service, Graphics, Engineering, Sales, Planning and Operations.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining all product and SKU information within internal and external databases, i.e. Product Line Plans, Development Calendars, Project Tracking documents, etc.

  • Responsible for managing samples related to product development, sales, marketing and other product management functions.

  • Help to identify opportunities for expansion or rationalization of products by assisting in the creation of new product briefs and strategy. Clearly communicate the goals of new product introductions to cross functional team.

  • Conduct on-going market analysis to identify customer, competition and product trends for specific categories. Assist in maintaining detailed competitor product reviews, advertising and marketing strategies.

  • Work with internal and external resources to create and coordinate marketing support needs including trade shows, product literature, packaging, merchandising materials.

  • Participate in strategic planning for the assigned product category business and make recommendations on strategic direction into markets, product modifications and/or improvements based on market research, customer feedback, and information gained through sales team members. Lead product line reviews when appropriate.

  • Serve as day-to-day contact with internal/external shared services, agencies and vendors to ensure timely execution.

  • Actively supports Pelican's Quality and Safety Objectives and contributes to the Quality and Safety Management Systems.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Product Management Commercial/Government.

  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


  • Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in Product Management/Marketing with Consumer or Industrial products.

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a Business, Marketing, or Technical field.

  • Able to use advanced features of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Knowledge of product management / strategic planning concepts, practices and techniques.

  • SAP experience preferred, but not required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees and customers at all levels.

  • Excellent teamwork and teambuilding skills with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must be able to identify problems, make recommendations, and implement solutions in a timely manner.

  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the assigned budget and time frame as specified by the Director of Product Management or the President Commercial/Government Division.


  • Actively supports and complies with Pelican's objectives, guidelines and commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement.

  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.

  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.

  • Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
