Summary:

The Associate Product Analyst is responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of reporting and dashboards focused around audience engagement and revenue data throughout our digital media landscape. As a business intelligence analyst, you will be a part of the entire data journey, querying data using SQL, connecting to BI tools like Tableau or Data Studio, performing analysis, writing the back-end code, and communicating results to key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be highly technical and detail-oriented and possess a natural tendency toward analytical thinking, with effective communication skills and a demonstrated history of experimenting with technology.

What you will do:

  • Build out new reporting as needed and maintain existing reports and dashboards for key stakeholders

  • Write back-end code to support the existing report and create efficiency improvements by optimizing the existing SQL structure; maintain and enhance the codebase

  • Perform analysis focused on audience and revenue data across all owned and operated news sites; identify and report on trends and opportunities

  • Work with executives and other stakeholders at news properties within our footprint to digest, understand, and report on audience behavior

  • Serve as liaison to news properties and assist in the management and administration of the company's Google Analytics implementation

What you will bring:

  • 1-2 years of experience in Business Analytics and ability to interpret and communicate findings effectively to key stakeholders

  • Proven ability to solve complex problems efficiently and creatively, with on-time delivery

  • Experience using business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Looker Studio, and Power BI

  • Understanding of data modeling, relational database concepts, and a working knowledge of SQL; experience with big data and nested data structures is a plus

  • Ability to write code and queries from scratch, self-QA, debug code, and validate the findings

  • Strong planning and organizational skills involving managing multiple work tasks in a fast-past environment, and the ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team and across functional groups

  • Experience in managing analytics for a high-volume of GA properties

  • Experience with the implementation of Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager in brand-new properties with no prior tracking installed

  • Mastery of Google Analytics including: the ability to create goals and understand event tracking strategies, comfort changing GA settings to improve data collection, understanding user permissions and analytics set up for multiple properties into groups or clusters for aggregation and the ability to set up cross-channel conversion tracking with third party technology

  • Google Analytics / GTM certification preferred

  • Data Analytics certification preferred

The annual salary range is $65,000 - $70,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
