The Associate Producer serves as the deputy for the Director, providing both programming, development, and operational support as well as an onsite presence. Together with the Assistant General Manager and the Production Supervisor, they will ensure that programming is successfully executed to Emerson's highest standards at the unCommon Stage.

Additionally, they will be integral in building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to support the Director in growing unCommon Stage's footprint. They will serve as a program manager for the stage's performances and other endeavors.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Producer serves as the deputy for the Director, providing both programming, development, and operational support as well as an onsite presence. Together with the Assistant General Manager and the Production Supervisor, they will ensure that programming is successfully executed to Emerson's highest standards at the unCommon Stage.

Additionally, they will be integral in building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to support the Director in growing unCommon Stage's footprint. They will serve as a program manager for the stage's performances and other endeavors.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

● Supports the Director to develop and execute season programming.

● Manages daily programming and coordinates with the Assistant General Manager and Production Coordinator to ensure successful performances.

● Liases directly with artists, performers, representatives from the curators and other partners to secure and finalize programming.

● Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Emerson marketing team, Emerson leadership, community curators, and other community organizations. Leads regular meetings with the Community Curators and other external stakeholders.

● Under Director, maintain a timeline of the overall project, with a critical eye to anticipating obstacles. Monitor project progress and ensure teams meet key self-imposed deadlines. Creates and maintains the program calendar.

● Manage the project budget in partnership with the OA General Manager, review Associate General Manager's financial tracking, and prepare monthly financial reports that include operational and programming expenses.

● Review artist contracts and manage the dissemination and collection of said contracts and other necessary artist paperwork.

● Provide timely delivery of marketing, press, and technical materials from curators, artists, and event coordinators.

● Collect and interpret audience data.

● Provide regular, onsite presence and live program support. Support unCommon Stage staff by being available to consult and provide event information.

● Assist Production Supervisor with advancing technical aspects of events and performances.

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.

● Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

● 3 - 5 years' experience in performing arts/live program development and management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.

● Resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently; strong ability to execute work broadly with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.

● Strong verbal and written communication skills.

● Make appropriate, informed decisions regarding priorities and available time.

● Ability to handle confidential matters in a professional and service-oriented manner.

● Ability to respond with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround often including night and weekend hours.

● The ability to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

● Ability to work with artists and all levels of the organization with diplomacy, caregiving and empathy. Avid understanding of, and passion for, the performing arts.

● Extreme attention to details and accuracy as well as problem solving skills.

● Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

● Ability to work evenings and weekends required.

● Experience with contract drafting a plus.

● Experience with website content management a plus.

● First Aid/CPR training is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

● Working in an outdoor venue with variable conditions.

● Exposure to noise, dust, heat, chemicals, fumes, etc.

● Occasionally lifting in excess of 50lb.

● Requires long periods of mental concentration.

● Requires the ability to effectively communicate in person and through communication media.

Compensation for this position will be between $ 26.75 - $ 32.75 hourly, commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position:

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
