Translational Molecular Biomarkers (TMB) is responsible for translating preclinical molecular biomarkers to clinical development across all therapeutic areas and all phases of clinical development at our Company's Research laboratories. TMB biomarker leads connect with colleagues in discovery and clinical development to ensure an effective biomarker strategy is in place to address key clinical questions and enable decision-making. TMB laboratories leverage a diverse array of technologies to develop biomarker assays to help confirm engagement of therapeutic targets and understand mechanisms of drug action and patient response.

The Biomarker Leads group within the TMB organization is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our team. The individual will play a critical role in the design, delivery, and execution of biomarker plans for our Company's early and late phase clinical trials in the General Medicine therapeutic areas. The candidate for this Associate Principal Scientist position should have strong expertise and experience in translational science, and laboratory medicine. In addition, the individual should have a desire to operate in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment to support our pipeline.

The individual will have the following responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver program- and study- level biomarker plans for early and late phase clinical trials in the General Medicine therapeutic areas.

  • Lead cross-functional biomarker sub teams, serve as functional area representative to development teams, and support governance interactions for pipeline projects and milestones.

  • Liaise with subject matter experts to identify and effectively implement target engagement, pharmacodynamic, proof-of-mechanism, and precision medicine biomarkers for clinical phase programs.

  • Facilitate adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies for biomarker identification and analysis.

  • Participate in the formulation of testable hypotheses for biomarker analyses, and interpretation of results to ensure meaningful and accurate conclusions are drawn.

  • Contribute to biomarker-related presentations, publications, and engagements, both internally and externally.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline (Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Pathology, Cell Biology, or related field)

Required Experience and Skills:

  • PhD and 5 years OR MS and 8+ years OR BS and 12+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, specifically in translational or biomarker sciences.

  • Excellent interpersonal, project management, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Biomarker experience in Immunology or Inflammatory Diseases is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated contributions to scientific community through abstracts, publications, and participation in conferences.

  • Experience utilizing computational methods (AI/ML, bioinformatics, data science, etc.) to manipulate data to develop biomarker strategies is a plus.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Under New York State, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$122,800.00 - $193,300.00
