Main Purpose of the Role
As an Associate Patient Advocacy Rep you will be responsible for obtaining patient authorization of reimbursement for the company's products and services. Compliments and assists Reimbursement Specialists and Sales Representatives by interfacing with patients to handle inquiries, troubleshoot problems, and handle routine follow-up calls and/or written communications regarding benefits and financial responsibility.
Works with patients to obtain authorization of reimbursement for the company's products and services
Educates and informs patients regarding treatment benefits for company's products and services
Confirms patient demographic and insurance information in an effort to maximize patient's health insurance benefits
Conducts phone interviews with patients to identify any potential coverage or benefits for which they may be eligible
Negotiates favorable pricing and payment terms with patients in an effort to expedite and increase shipments
Responsible for screening self-pay patients to secure potential financial assistance for which they may be eligible
Educates patients regarding financial assistance programs
Contacts patients to ensure receipt of product and requests required signature documents are returned for timely billing
Complies with all health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and job hazard analyses applicable to specified job activities; including medical evaluations as required by job function
Completes all required HSE training
Education and Experience (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
High school diploma or G.E.D. Associates degree in business related field preferred.
Minimum 6 months medical authorization experience in a medical claims environment involving negotiation, problem resolution, and order entry by using an on-line computer terminal.
Knowledge of government program regulations, Medicare, and other third party payers.
Must possess good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface with customers and company personnel at all levels. Strong persuasion/negotiation skills.
Must display professional persistence, manage detailed information; maintain high level of organization; display strong proficiency in multi-tasking by effectively managing time, projects, and priorities.
PC experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook or other related software.
Familiarity with computer systems. Knowledge of SAP or other integrated software applications preferred.
