Job Title: Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Energy

Location: Berlin, Heidelberg, or New York - Hybrid Working Model. Internal applications are also welcomed from those working in other Springer Nature journal editorial hubs.

Springer Nature, the publisher of Nature, is looking to recruit an Associate or Senior Editor for Nature Energy. Launched in January 2016, Nature Energy publishes high-quality research and opinion across all aspects of energy, from its generation and storage to its distribution and management, the needs and demands of different actors, and the impacts that energy technologies and policies have on societies. The journal's scope includes the natural and social sciences as well as economics.

About the role:

We now have an opening for someone with a strong background in energy modelling or energy economics to join our team as an Associate or Senior Editor. Candidates are expected to have extensive knowledge of various energy topics, including, for example, the analysis of energy systems; energy markets; and the integration of renewable energy sources into grids. This position offers a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Nature Energy.

Role Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the Chief Editor and a small team of Senior Editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, commissioning, editing of Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, and other content, as well as writing for the journal.

• Determining and championing the representation of relevant fields in the journal.

• Liaising with the research community through institutional visits, conferences, and other means.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

Essential:

• Applicants must have a PhD, with a strong track record in research relevant to the fields covered in the journal.

• Broad scientific knowledge and training.

• Excellent literary and communication skills.

• The ability to absorb new areas of research.

Desirable:

• Postdoctoral experience.

• Previous editorial experience.

This job is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.
