The Department of Biology at Boston University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Associate or Full Professor level in Integrative Neurobiology starting in Fall 2019. We seek a colleague who utilizes cutting edge approaches applied within a broad neuroscience context to study basic and translational neurobiological questions at the cellular, molecular and/or systems level in any animal model system.

Topics of interest include: 1) analyses of the formation, function, and plasticity of neural circuits, in the context of development, behavior, or neurological disorders; 2) neurogenetic or transcriptomic approaches for mapping brain connectivity or brain activity; 3) novel tools for multi-modal analysis and/or manipulation of neural activity and gene expression in situ; and 4) genetic determinants of neuron phenotype diversity and neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological disorders. We will also strongly consider investigators working in areas that are complementary to the existing strengths of the department such as molecular mechanisms regulating brain development and disease, and circuit analysis of sensory function and learning in vivo. Responsibilities include maintaining and growing a vibrant research program with extramural funding, teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels, and participating in graduate training.

The successful candidate will join a strong and growing interdisciplinary Neuroscience research community at Boston University that also benefits from close affiliations with engineering initiatives including Photonics and synthetic and systems biology. Boston University expects excellence in teaching and in research, and is committed to building a culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse scholarly community. The successful candidate will be offered newly renovated laboratory facilities as well as a competitive salary and start-up package.
