The Associate Operator-Shift performs on-the-job training to develop skills and abilities in the maintenance and field operations of the pipeline facility while obtaining Operator Qualification. Performs tasks involving general maintenance of pipeline and station assets. Perform basic inspections of right-of-way or hazardous waste inspections. These activities may include physical labor such as, but not limited to, painting, digging with hand tools, raking gravel, unloading trucks and/or inspecting tanks. This level is completing OQ and/or is continuing to gain experience and skill in pipeline operations. This individual will participate in Colonial's maintenance self-study program and attend Company coordinated classes and seminars to enhance technical skills/knowledge.
Conducts daily work in compliance with Colonial's safety policies and procedures. Demonstrates Colonial's core values of Safety, Personal Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork in completing work assignments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Perform tasks involving general maintenance, preventative maintenance or minor repair of pipeline and station assets.
Operate a variety of light and heavy tools or equipment in the performance of tasks.
Document operational activities accurately and timely accordingly to policy and procedures.
Transfer tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from work stations and other areas.
Perform basic right of way inspection duties.
Talk to landowners, utility companies and contractors; inspect encroachments; locate and mark pipeline locations.
Conduct product sampling and testing to maintain quality and quantity control of product.
Participate in a variety of company sponsored and facility training programs.
Train in and promote operations and safety.
At some locations, perform inspections of hazardous waste drums and drum collection sites .
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Operate various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
May be required to use the following tools in the course of their duties: PC's, calculator, phone, qualitative and quantitative equipment, two-way radio, emergency equipment, hand tools, mower, vehicle, probe bar, personal protective equipment.

Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Department of Transportation (DOT) covered job and is subject to all applicable regulatory requirements such as Operator Qualification and random drug testing .

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions in close proximity to refined petroleum products.
Work 8-hour and/or 12-hour rotating shifts at all hours including weekends and holidays; must be able to work occasional overtime. Drive company and personal vehicles to perform required tasks.
Physical mobility to sit, stand, reach, pull, push and bend Climb stairs, vertical ladders up to 10 ft. and tank steps as high as 60 ft. Color recognition for control panel indicator lights and to analyze product colors; ability to lift 20lbs.
Normal visual acuity for reading VDT screen, pressure charts and control panel counters
Physical strength to open and close manually operated valves and pressure vessel (tank, strainer and filter) closures.
