Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space, missile defense, strategic, tactical missile and armaments customers throughout domestic and international markets. This position would be located at our facility in Redmond, Washington where we develop and manufacture propulsion products used on satellites, space probes and other spacecraft.

The Associate Production Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for working directly with a program assigned manufacturing engineer in an integrated program team (design, quality, contracts and program), to ensure all engineering/manufacturing requirements are met within manufacturing documentation. This will require working directly with assembly/test technicians to implement processes, and look for ways to continually improve them.

This position may be filled at this level as posted or one level higher.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under direct supervision:
40% - Maintain, update, and write manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, standard operating procedures, process specifications, and process instructions. Work directly with a Program Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, and Design Engineering to obtain requirements necessary to successfully build production hardware.
30% - Interface with Teamcenter Enterprise, and Oracle to enter manufacturing bill of material and routings to ensure that operations, resources, and lead times are correct. These inputs feed directly into our material resource planning system, and enable the site to manage capacity requirements.
20% - Work to improve administrative processes, using lean techniques such as fishbone, process flow, and Kaizen.
10% - Develop documentation standards, to decrease lead time, and increase quality accuracy of manufacturing documentation.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related major (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings. Requires strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

PowerPoint skills are necessary. Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of Oracle and Teamcenter Enterprise is a plus. Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and improvement techniques are desired.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto.

May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Supports and validates turn key supplier manufacturing processes. * Maintains applicable work, test, and process documentation. Performs sustaining engineering functions such as support all automation lines and machines, fixtures, molding machines if needed. Supports the product development process. * Develops/maintains/approves performance measurements, metrics, product reliability/testing, and continuous improvement projects as assigned. * Works with procurement in qualifying suppliers, defining special requirements, testing, and processes verification/ validation. Leads and coordinates continuous process /product improvement and cost reduction initiatives along with other tasks as assigned. * Supports the new product development process, new automation equipment specification/design/development/validation, and existing/released products as required, with: * Electronic component level troubleshooting and characterization capabilities. * Test plan creation and fixture design. * Electrical design, wiring, soldering, and troubleshooting. * Using hand and electrical tools when fixtures are designed and made. * Hand assembly and rework skills in Surface Mount Technology. * BOM/drawing creation, approvals, and maintenance. * Mechanical design- SolidWorks, AutoCAD. * Other tasks as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of related work experience. * Mechanical background or experience along with the electrical is needed as well. * Background in electronics sustaining engineering and/or new development of automation or fixtures. * Experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. * Solid understanding of automation development. Ability to manual assemble an automation line from scratch along with design and wiring of automation electrical panels. * Experience to program PLC as Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc. by using PLC languages is a Plus. * Able to apply applicable technology to provide practical solutions while fostering innovation, problem solving, and creative solutions in the disciplines specific to the Engineering Services function described herein. * Previous ISO 9001 work environment experience.
