Laboratory System Test Engineer synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform requirements analysis and decomposition including developing derived requirements as needed to test the system

  • Develop test equipment and simulation requirements

  • Develop Testability Requirements

  • Support Systems Engineering to develop Verification Cross Reference Matrices

  • Develop Test Planning Detail Sheets

  • Develop Test Plans and Detailed Procedures

  • Support Test Equipment Checkout and System Integration

  • Support Test Execution as First Line Troubleshooter

  • Perform as the hardware responsible engineer for the subsystem under test

  • Perform technical interactions with the system test team to ensure system requirements are being verified

  • Write Test Reports

  • Support troubleshooting of issues discovered during subsystem and system level testing

This position will support off-nominal shift; 3rd shift: midnight to 6:30am EST. Compensation for employees working off-normal shift hours is determined based on Northrop Grumman guidelines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able and willing to work an off-nominal shift (shift 3: midnight to 6:30am EST)

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access prior to commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective Communication: Must be able to convey the results of the test both verbally and written to the management staff.

  • Prior internships or coursework in software/hardware testing or equivalent, particularly outlining test plans, defining necessary regression testing, and test case and procedure development and execution.Experience in several of the following areas is required: air vehicle lab testing, flight controls testing in lab environment, leadership experience; systems development experience; knowledge of architectures, Mission Systems, Mission Planning, Communications, Data links, Computer networks, Sensors, Avionics, COTS hardware, Integration, and/or Test

  • Experience testing manned or unmanned aircraft (via labs, ground or flight testing) or similar system test experience

  • Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.

  • Knowledge of automated software testing methodologies and processes

  • Demonstrated ability to meet very short deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to effectively lead a small team through all phases of integration and test from design of test philosophy to delivery to the customer.

  • Demonstrated the ability to lead timely resolution of technical issues by leveraging the appropriate mix of resources.

  • Knowledge of the following tools, DOORS, ViTech CORE, Fundamentals of Systems Engineering, VISIO, CPLM, and Automated Testing (Python, C , Java).

  • Lab Test experience with air vehicle testing, Failure Modes and Effects (FMET), vehicle management system testing, fuel, flight controls testing, or actuator testing

This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida and will support the ABMS program. Essential Functions: * Technical expert in multiple areas of network, computer hardware and software, interconnection and interfacing technologies * Ensure networks and hardware assets are configured and ready to test by deploying software and configuring hardware * Configure, build and troubleshoot advanced networks, hardware and communication systems in a laboratory environment * Collaborate with other engineers and lab users to ensure the lab meets test requirements and the needs of all stakeholders * Developing and releasing engineering documentation for a detailed laboratory architecture and requirements baseline * Support Management and lab users on technical applications and best practices * Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet program needs, including present and future requirements The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of network, computer, or software/hardware engineering experience OR Master's Degree from and 7 years of network, computer, or software/hardware engineering experience OR PhD Degree and 4 years of network, computer, or software/hardware engineering experience OR 12 years of network, computer, or software and hardware engineering experience directly related to the requirements of the position.
