Technician for sterilization technology group
Successful candidate will be working with other technicians and professionals to complete annual requalification's and initial validations on equipment used for sterilization of items that are required for the filling of aseptic drug products. The ability to function well in a team environment and as an individual are critical requirements. The individual will need to be able to complete all tasks from preparing biological indicators and equipment required to complete testing, to assisting with the studies , to putting BI's on test, to compiling data and verifying results. Initially the role will involve only one system, and as the individual develops will grow into becoming an expert in all sterilization systems throughout the site. The successful candidate may also become involved in other tasks of the group such as media fill observer, biological indicator testing, container closure integrity testing, filter integrity testing, temperature mapping, and other special microbiological projects as the need arises.
Successful candidate will assist staff colleagues in preparing for and performing validation/annual requalification of all sterilization systems in various graded spaces throughout plant within the Kalamazoo site.
Person will be responsible for properly completing protocol paperwork as well as checking the protocols of others for accuracy and completeness.
Person will work with biological indicators and temperature measuring devices to ensure sterilization of items is complete.
Maintain lab equipment and keep lab in a compliant and orderly manner.
Must be able to work independently and with a group on projects.
Person will process test samples in a lab environment.
Successful candidate will participate in media fill observation rotation working off shift and on weekends at times.
Individual will need to maintain consumable supply inventory and place orders as necessary.
Minimum High School Education (2 year associate degree preferred).
A mechanical aptitude is essential.
Some microbiology/aspetic operations understanding is required.
Needs to be organized and a good communicator.
Must be able to work unsupervised and accomplish either simple or complex tasks that are critical for completing equipment requalifications in a timely manner to maintain production schedules.
Must be able to function in a group situation taking directions from others, or working as an individual contributor to complete studies.
Need the ability to observe if there are issues and communicate with staff of problems.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Must be aseptic gowning qualified, or able to obtain and keep aseptic gowning qualification.
Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Must be willing to work off shifts and weekends occasionally.
Will need to work safely in hot, dirty, and dark conditions at times.
