KPMG is currently seeking an Associate/Senior Associate in Risk Assurance - IT Audit and Assurance for our KPMG Risk Consulting practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute the day-to-day activities of IT audit engagements for clients, including system development, package implementation, SSAE 18 readiness assessments, and/or platform reviews within multiple industries, primarily serving Bay Area clients

  • Evaluate the design and effectiveness of technology controls throughout the business cycle

  • Identify and communicate IT audit findings to senior management and clients

  • Help identify performance improvement opportunities for assigned clients

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Associate:

  • Supervise associates and interns on engagements

  • Serve as a liaison between financial services clients and upper management

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in any of the following areas: financial statement and SOX IT audit work, SOC1/2 (SSAE18) attestation engagements, other security and advisory work (e.g. ISO 27001 readiness)

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college/university

  • CPA or CISA candidate is preferred

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to gain the confidence and respect of senior level executives

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

  • Travel is required; 100% in Bay Area

Additional Qualifications for Senior Associate:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in any of the following areas: financial statement and SOX IT audit work, SOC1/2 (SSAE18) attestation engagements, other security and advisory work (e.g. ISO 27001 readiness)

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to write at a publication quality level in order to communicate findings and recommendations to the client's senior management team

  • Project or team lead experience, specifically within a consulting firm is preferred

Responsibilities/Duties: * Perform audits. * Participate in the planning and coordination of audits. * Analyze accounting records to determine financial status of establishment and prepare financial reports concerning operating procedures. * Review data regarding material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income, and expenditures. * Inspect items in books of original entry to determine if accepted accounting procedure was followed in recording transactions. * Inspect notes receivable and payable, negotiable securities, and cancelled checks. * Verify journal and ledger entries of cash and check payments, purchases, expenses, and trial balances by examining and authenticating inventory items. * Actively participate in problem solving and work productively with clients, partners, managers, co-workers to produce the highest quality audit work and consulting services for clients. Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications: * CPA exam eligible candidates preferred (this is a CPA career track position) * Prior audit or accounting work experience preferred (Audit, Tax, and Bookkeeping). * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * A problem solver with strong analytical and organizational skills * Computer proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access) * Strong professional service ethic, client focused and results driven * Manage multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines * Stay current on the latest GAAP practices and knowledge of GAAP matters Education: * BA/BS degree required; degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business preferred.
