POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Associate Instructor Machine Tool Technology (Dual Enrollment)

West Ridge High School

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Elizabethton is accepting applications for the position of Associate Instructor in the Machine Tool Technology program. This position will be located at West Ridge High School and serve dual enrollment students beginning August 2024.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in the Machine Tool field within the last five (5) years.

  • Must possess NIMS certifications or the ability to become certified within 12 calendar months.

  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must possess the organizational and verbal and written communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students

  • Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality

  • Must have a sincere desire and interest to teach as well as remain current in the Machine Tool profession

  • Computer skills necessary

General Duties:

The Machine Tool Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing in-person individualized theory and hands-on instruction to high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. Areas of instruction include blueprint reading, shop theory, precision measuring, technical math, CAD, safety, basic metallurgy, etc. The Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college's student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates as needed. The Associate Instructor must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, participate in advisory committee efforts and cooperate with outside agencies. This position will also supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education. Some travel may be required.

SALARY:

Starting $50,142 - $60, 171 annually commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Lifting of materials weighing approximately 40 lbs.

  • Operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.
