MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education credentials in a related field; Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and directly related employment experience may be considered.
Three (3) years of experience in the HVAC/R field within the last five (5) years.
Must possess a high degree of knowledge and industrial expertise in all phases of industrial, residential, and commercial HVAC/R systems to include installation and service.
Must possess EPA 608 Universal, NC3 575 Meter and/or other certifications as required for the field or the ability to become certified within six (6) calendar months. Ability to obtain NC3 Residential certifications within twelve (12) calendar months.
Strong hands-on technical background in the field of instruction.
SKILLS
Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students.
Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality.
Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
Must possess computer skills.
Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.
Must be willing and able to perform administrative duties in a timely manner.
GENERAL DUTIES: The Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction, in conjunction with an additional full-time instructor, to high school and adult students to prepare them to become HVAC/R technicians. Areas of instruction include, but are not limited to: print reading, basic electronics, pneumatics, math, programmable controllers, refrigerant containment certification and heat pump technology. The Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college's student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; create and maintain lesson plans and curriculum, and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates. The Associate Instructor must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This position will also supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education. Some travel is required. This position is full-time and reports to the Director of the Clarksville Campus. Scheduled work hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Scheduled class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Instruction is delivered in-person.
SALARY: $55,157-$66,188 annually ($28.29-$33.94 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
