learning environment in the classroom.

Job Duties

GENERAL DUTIES: Responsible for individualized instruction in all phases of the Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics program while preparing students for careers in a modern manufacturing environment; providing technical instruction relevant to the actual work environment using the prescribed program curriculum; exercising methods of recruitment and retention of students; ensuring harmony working with the college's goals and objectives; developing and maintaining the curriculum for local industry; ensuring efficient and safe delivery of instruction to students; and evaluating and solving procedural problems associated within the program; performs related tasks and other duties as assigned.

In addition, the ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, team player who is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty and whose career objectives include being a member of a dynamic and growing institution that has a vision to expand its services and increase its offerings to the citizens, businesses and industries in its service area. Skills will also include the development of an active Advisory Committee comprised of professionals from business and industry.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidate must have a high school diploma with technical diploma or higher degree in Electronics, Industrial Manufacturing, Mechanical or Engineering Technology or similar discipline preferred.

  • Minimum of five years' work experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial maintenance, engineering, mechatronics, process control, robotics or related field; classroom experience and appropriate administration experience in delivery of workforce education and training is preferred.

  • Must possess extensive knowledge, skills, and experience to provide effective instruction in advanced manufacturing

process topics to include electronics; industrial electrical; industrial mechanical; process control and process automation; pneumatics and controls; fluid power and controls; electrical power and controls; PLC's; HMI systems integration; and lean manufacturing processes.

  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher.

  • Be willing to learn and use individualized instructional techniques.

  • Be willing to maintain personal credentialing and certification as required.

  • Must have effective ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs; audio/visual equipment and software; and working knowledge of maintaining student records and/or sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Siemens SMSCP Certified and/or other related certifications.

  • Robotics.

  • Teaching experience.

  • Knowledge of Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies and procedures.

  • Skill in managing deadlines and working in a team-oriented environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively apply a multi-method approach to enhance student understanding of materials, including demonstrations, lectures, hands-on activities and experience at job sites to provide the student with the knowledge to gain employment in the automation industry.

  • Ability to understand which teaching methods best serve the student's needs, interests and ability to learn.

  • Ability to develop accurate and objective standards to measure learning or administer testing or other evaluations to determine effectiveness and ensure a high level of comprehension has been achieved.

  • Ability to teach basic and advanced automation courses.

  • Build and maintain relationships with area employers to facilitate the referral and employment of career and technical students.

  • Cooperate with outside agencies; work with program advisory committees; conduct visits to business and industry; establish and maintain good public relations with the school's general public.

  • Work in cooperation with other departments and the community to enhance employment opportunities for students.

  • Responsible for surveys, records and reports of program graduates.

  • Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, and the general public.

  • Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

  • Participate in professional development and growth annually.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
