Job Description:

In the area of facilities services the position will liaison and monitor vendor activities related to facilities services including: architectural building maintenance interior/exterior, food services, print/copy environment, cleaning, mail, shipping & receiving, move management, furniture and furniture systems, pest control programs, lab coat/uniform programs, landscaping, snow removal, trash/recycling programs, signage, plants, painting, flooring and room setups. The position will support site projects as needed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1.Facilities Services: Administers and monitors vendor activities related to various facilities services including: cleaning, architectural building maintenance interior/exterior, food services, print/copy environment, mail, shipping & receiving, move management, furniture and furniture systems, pest control programs, lab coat/uniform programs, landscaping, snow removal, trash/recycling programs, signage, plants, painting, flooring and room setups. Collaborate with Real Estate Planning team on furniture requests/upgrades, campus projects/space accessibility changes Supports site projects from a facilities perspective.
2.Event Planning: Process event requests for Cambridge and Weston Campuses. Partner w/ Public Affairs, Security, Maintenance, Janitorial, IT & Food Services to ensure appropriate staff and resources are secured. Administer Online Event Request portal & calendar. Provide Outlook Calendar Management for the Event Planning controlled rooms. Provide onsite Meeting Support for corporate initiatives or high profile meetings such as Science Day, AAN and BoD Meetings. Provide online and in person trainings to educate administrative community (and other frequent event hosts) on Event Process & guidelines.
3.On-boarding and Training: Administration of contractor on-boarding process for NA Facilities contractors. Ensures that contractors are entered into the appropriate Non-Employee systems, training is appropriately assigned and resources are requested. Generate and distribute training compliance reports to contractor management.
4.Training Administration: Administer training requirements and assignments in Biogen systems for NA Facilities employees. Generate and distribute training requirements and compliance reports to employees, supervisors and managers.


  • Three (3) years related experience and/or training in the areas of facilities, event planning or maintenance

  • Practical knowledge of facilities and site services.

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong organization skills


Bachelors degree preferred.

Agios has one approved oncology precision medicine and multiple first-in-class investigational therapies in clinical and/or preclinical development. Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Associate Director of Facilities to join our team. The Associate Director of Facilities will report to the Vice President of Facility Operations and will be responsible for the overall facility and engineering operations. This includes the daily support of building infrastructure and systems for the Cambridge site. S/he manages the facility and maintenance teams responsible for maintaining building systems, process systems and new requirements of the organization. The Associate Director also identifies opportunities to improve robustness, reliability and other aspects of operational performance. S/he works to plan and manage operational budgets and capital investments, creates and maintains relationships to develop and promote engineering best practices and ensures compliance with Agios SOP's, safe work practices and required regulations. This position requires close collaboration across all company functions to complete all responsibilities. Key Responsibilities * Responsible for maintenance of an 185,000 sq ft facility, across 2 buildings including on-site lab space of ~56,000 sq ft * Responsible and accountable for the operation, preventative maintenance, and repair of all buildings, utilities, systems, and equipment associated with the facility. * Oversight of the shipping, receiving and logistics teams * Advises, negotiates, manages and administers all contracts relating to building operations * Oversight of building security, including contracted security staff * Manage, develop and motivate a team of full-time employees and contractors * Work with vendor partners to ensure they are an extension of Agios Minimum Requirements * Bachelors of Science degree * Good working knowledge of applicable building regulations and codes * Knowledge of generally accepted building code and compliance including City of Cambridge and the State of Mass, OSHA, EPA, etc. * Progressive experience in Bio-pharmaceutical and/or related regulated industries, specifically with research focused organizations * People management and leadership experience * Ability to align, develop, motivate and lead a team including creating accountability * Ability to act effectively as a team member to resolve problems. * Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills * Experience in administering a CMMS related software system * Self-motivated, flexible and creative leader, able to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced & demanding environment. * Ability to provide a high level of service delivery, including the ability to work in a collaborative, dynamic environment and the ability to lead our vendor partners * Ability to handle multiple requests, be responsive to customer requests/service issues, meet deadlines and make sound decisions, sometimes under stress * Proven ability of project and program management at scale with high level of execution and quality * Demonstrated ability to scale an organization as the company grows.
