Where you will work:

Clearwater Paper's Las Vegas facility produces through-air-dried (TAD) ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, facial tissue, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Boasting over 200 talented employees, the Las Vegas location sits on 23 acres and uses state-of-the-art technology, automation and a variety of equipment such as laser-guided vehicles. Located within the Mojave Desert, North Las Vegas sits just northeast of Las Vegas as the 4th largest city in the state of Nevada. The city offers an extensive park and recreation program including 34 parks that cover more than 475 acres of developed parkland. Recently completed Southern Nevada's Neon to Nature regional trail system includes 10 miles used for hiking, biking, and leisurely strolls. North Las Vegas offers several opportunities for social and civic involvement including Three Square Food Bank, the Salvation Army, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, and Clark County 4H. North Las Vegas offers a strong K-12 school district (Clark County School District) including 5 high schools and several elementary and middle schools. North Las Vegas is also home to the Cheyenne Campus of the College of Southern Nevada.

What you will do:

Employee and Benefits Administration

  • Acts as a resource for CPD salaried and flat rate employees in the areas of benefits administration and payroll issues

  • Coordinates employee benefits with Corporate Benefits Department and Third-Party Administrators including health care, life insurance benefits, 401K and pension

  • Processes changes and maintain data in payroll and human resources system

  • Conducts exit interviews and serves as counsel for retirement and benefit options.

  • Communicates Human Resource policy, practices, and procedures to all employees, as needed

  • Communicates, collects, and maintains performance reviews

Recruiting and Onboarding

  • Recruit hourly employees consistent with company standards and compliance obligations including posting job descriptions, screening applications, facilitating and participating in panel interviews, preparing compensation offers.

  • Updates application system as necessary.

  • Prepares position descriptions reflecting pertinent responsibilities, activities, and requirements.

  • Facilitates pre-employment screening for hourly and salaried new hires including pre-employment tests and coordination of background and reference checks.

  • Places employment advertisements and analyses reports and trends.

  • Schedule assessments and interviews.

  • Participates in local job fairs · Supports internship program

  • Assists in hourly and salaried new hire orientations and provides training and guidance to hiring managers and employees on policies, process, and regulatory issues.

  • Assists with facilitating overall company orientation

Payroll and Compliance

  • Works closely with site supervisors and managers on Kronos WFD

  • Process payroll using reporting feature to ensure accuracy · Processes manual checks when necessary

  • Ensures deductions are correct, interfaces with garnishment department, corporate payroll and HRIS department

  • Ensures final pay is distributed according to Nevada statues. · Provides details of Equal Employment Opportunities, company data and activities.

  • Ensures compliance and provides documentation for regulations on Equal Employment Opportunities, Affirmative Action, Family Medical Leave Act, HIPPA, American Disability Act and Sarbanes Oxley.

  • Maintains employee personnel files

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business or related field or equivalent experience required.

  • 0-3 years professional Human Resources experience in a support role required.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to prepare written materials and correspondence.

  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and working knowledge of Human Resource Information System and payroll system.

  • Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Experience with Kronos and UKG - UltiPro preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people, mediate, persuade, and influence managers at all levels. Must possess sound confrontation skills.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the Fair Labor Standards Act and National Labor Relations Act.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Intermediate skill level in the use of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Experience with payroll and time and attendance software.

  • Office environment

  • Some exposure to mill environment-hot, dusty, humid, noisy

  • Some eye fatigue due to computer terminal use

  • Sitting for extended periods of time

  • Some travel required

Total Reward Details:

We're committed to providing an exceptional workplace experience, including a comprehensive total reward package. This position is eligible for our Incentive Plan. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors. Benefits are generally available after 30 days and include medical, dental, vision, life, disability coverage, employee assistance program, and a 401k plan. Paid time off will include vacation days, personal days, and company holidays.
