Acacia designs, develops, manufactures and sells intelligent transceivers using sophisticated signal processing and photonic integration for the 100G, 400G and 1T bit speed fiber optic transmission market deployed in data center, metro, long-haul and ultra-long haul telecommunication networks.

Job Description:

The Sr. Technician will be a member of Acacia's Hardware team and will contribute to the hardware life cycle of our products. You will work within a multi-disciplinary hardware, Software, Optics, and DSP engineering organization.

Responsibilities for this position range from HW engineering support, to debugging and contributing to board bring up, to DVT and validation of systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

Test and debugging of systems during bring up phase
Proto-typing and rework
DVT and system validation
General HW engineering and lab support

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications:

AS or equivalent in electronics with a minimum 7+ years of relevant industry experience
Track record of supporting and debugging of NPI products
Test and validation of high speed electrical products including parametric and performance testing
Solid proto-typing and fine pitch soldering skills
Solid demonstrated experience using test equipment (high speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, digital multi-meters, etc.)
Solid demonstrated experience f troubleshooting basic digital circuitry, protocols, and interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, MDIO, CPUs, memory, FPGAs, etc.)
Working knowledge of basic analog components (ADC/DAC, DC-DC converters, Op Amps, etc.)
Working knowledge of high speed designs (10+ GHz)
Experienced in reading and interpreting BOMs, schematics, drawings, and other engineering documentation
Good analytical, interpretive, and problem resolution skills.
Good written and oral communications skills

Highly Desired Skills:

Exposure to high-speed electro-optical transmission components (tunable lasers, modulators, VOAs, etc.)
Experience with Optical test equipment (Wave meters, OSA, etc.)
Working knowledge of Cadence Allegro PCB layout viewer

Key Essential Functions: * Analysis and design of signal routing for chip-level, package-level, and module-level products * Performance simulation of high-speed optical modules * Interact with vendors to define requirements for packages, boards, test sockets, connectors, and other components for systems operating more than 50GHz * Assist in the lab characterization and validation of components and systems Minimum Requirements: * Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field * 5+ years of experience in product-oriented signal integrity engineering * Extensive experience with 3D EM simulation (Ansys HFSS or equivalent) * Extensive experience with System modeling tools (ADS or equivalent) * Experience with SI simulation in both time and frequency domains * Experience with systems running at 50GHz and higher * Working knowledge of Cadence Allegro and SiP viewers and complex HDI board stack-ups * Strong SI problem-solving skills in a system environment with multiple components * Hand-on experience with SI lab validation * Experience with VNA, high-speed probing, and high-speed scopes * Ability to interface effectively across organizational and geographic boundaries * Demonstrated effective communication, presentation, planning, and organization skills Other Desirable Skills: * Background in optoelectronic product development * Knowledge of electro-optical packaging techniques (wire-bond, die bonding, flip-chip, etc.) * Knowledge of OIF CEI and IEEE 802.3 (400Gbps and above) physical layer signaling standards * Knowledge of Power Integrity simulation (Cadence Sigrity preferred) - Big plus! Job Description Acacia is looking for an expert in modeling of coherent optical communications systems. You will become the owner of Acacia's system modeling environment helping us achieve fast, user-friendly, automated, and not least ultra-accurate system modeling. A key part of the work is development of accurate models adequate for system modeling for components such as RF amplifiers, silicon optics modulators and detectors, ADC/DAC, and lasers working closely with the colleagues designing these parts. In addition, you will simulate system performance, where penalties from neighboring channels, filters, and other transmission effects are considered. Depending on your experience and interest, you may also contribute to DSP/FEC algorithm development as well as bring-up, debugging, and optimization of ultra high speed optical transceivers. Skills and experience The essential requirements for this job include a good overall understanding of optical communications systems, a deep understanding of modeling of communications systems including time and frequency domain representation of signals, discrete-time representation of periodic and aperiodic analogue signals, and excellent C++ programming skills. Given the importance of accurate system modeling, we also believe that perfectionism and great attention to detail are essential. Knowledge of DSP algorithms, SW development methodologies including revision control, and direct experience with coherent transceivers will be a plus and help you ramp up faster in this role. While we do not have rigid requirements to education, we think a Ph.D. or master's degree in physics, math, or electrical engineering is a good background for this job.
