We welcome a Graphical Artist to assist our engineering teams creating digital design solutions to illustrate design concepts. The Graphical Artist will collaborate with other members of our creative team as a member of the Common Open Mission Systems Architecture Common Data Display and Controls team. The ideal candidate will have current knowledge of design trends and industry software, a professional approach to constructive criticism while meeting deadlines, and an ability to conduct critical design research.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Conceives, designs, lays out, and coordinates editorial illustrations and creative artwork for pilot design flipbooks and guides based on the systems decomposition of tactical mission relevant use cases and threads

  • Translates facts and features of subject material into graphic terms that best convey intended meaning

  • Develops interpretive themes that convey ideas and information

  • Creates graphic presentations that communicate mood, emphasis, insight, viewpoint, and similar visual impressions

  • Provides guidance on graphic technology

  • Responsible for coordination with subject matter experts to discuss the design objectives and requirements of the job to ensure adherence to brand guidelines

Expect to create designs that balance adherence to strict design specifications and intuitive design approach

  • Expect to work as part of a team with fellow designers, system subject matter experts, and program managers in an Agile software development environment

Must have sharp eye for design, style, color choice, font selection and implementation

  • Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Enthusiasm for one's work, quick thinking and action, and the ability to give and take critiques are a must!

  • Must be self-motivated and be able to juggle numerous projects simultaneously

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (e.g. Graphical Arts, Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics and Special Effects; Computer Graphics; Modeling, Virtual Environments and Simulation; Computer Software and Media Applications; Web/Multimedia Management and Webmaster; Industrial Design; et al)

  • PC literate with advanced knowledge/experience in Adobe CC: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Microsoft Visio

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance and Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active experience in developing and implementing creative campaigns/projects

  • Master's Degree

  • Active SECRET or higher security clearance

  • Experience using CANVAS software

  • Understanding of human factors for visual interfaces

  • Understanding of color schematics for aircraft UX design

  • Experience with C

  • Experience with Python
