Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Warden, the Use of Force Coordinator will independently function as the Incident Coordinator for the California Institution for Men, (CIM). Duties include performing the task, provide support and monitor the implementation of the Use of Force policy at CIM. Responsible for analyzing all CDCR 837 Crime/Incident Reports involving use of force, staff assaults, batteries, exposures or inures in monitoring to ensure compliance of procedural time frames are met and the actions of staff prior to, during and after the use of force, insuring actions were appropriate, and assist in providing recommendations to the Warden.

This position will act as the institutional liaison with the Associate Director-office staff, and develops and maintains a tracking system for all CDC 837's Crime/Incident Reports. The analyst serves as the institutional COMPSTAT coordinator for monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews. The analyst independently coordinates and compiles the statistical data in preparing a multitude of analytical interpretations to be reviewed by the Division Heads and the Warden prior to semi-annual executive mission gatherings, and annual Department Secretary level meetings, to discuss institutional standings. Ensures confidential discretion on a case-by-case basis.

Limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Dedicated on June 21, 1941, the California Institution for Men (CIM) is a large complex consisting of four separate facilities under the administration of one warden. It was California's third correctional institution and was constructed to relieve the overcrowded conditions of San Quentin State Prison (1852) and Folsom State Prison (1881).

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
