Role Summary The Associate General Counsel, Labor & Employment is part of the Company's global Labor & Employment legal team and will serve as a strategic partner to Rivian's People Team and other key stakeholders, providing expert legal advice and guidance on a variety of labor and employment matters to ensure legal compliance and promote a positive employee experience. This role will report to the Head of Labor & Employment and collaborate with other members of the Legal Leadership Team and leaders across the organization to ensure that Rivian complies with all labor and employment compliance obligations. Responsibilities This is what you'll do:

Provide advice and counsel on a wide range of labor and employment law issues, including recruiting, diversity and inclusion, employee and labor relations, performance management, leaves of absence and accommodations, wage and hour, pay equity, internal investigations, compensation and benefits, contingent workers, and immigration.

Evaluate, iterate and scale employment practices and policies at a growing organization. Draft, review and update labor and employment related agreements and templates.

Handle employment-related disputes, internally and externally.

Conduct and manage workplace audits, employment classification reviews, and support other employment compliance efforts. Manage outside counsel on labor and employment matters.

Help develop and conduct training and education programs for employees, managers, and the People Team (HR). Provide advice to key business partners and help develop strategy on company-wide initiatives and policies affecting employees with a team-oriented approach. Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to employment issues and provide proactive, strategic advice to the relevant stakeholders as necessary. Qualifications This is what you'll need:

Must have a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of the Bar (California, Illinois or Michigan preferred) and/or eligibility for in-house counsel registration. 10-12+ years of labor & employment legal experience, including in-house experience.

Significant in-house automotive and/or manufacturing experience is a real plus. Experience providing traditional labor and employment law advice and counsel to a multinational employer.

Experience in advising on pay equity and pay transparency matters, and wage and hour compliance, including job classifications and payroll compliance.

Experience in advising on workforce change strategies including reorganizations, reductions in team and WARN compliance.

Experience in interacting with NLRB, EEOC, state and local EEO agencies on complex matters.

Experience managing a team, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, balance competing priorities, and manage several time-sensitive projects at once. This is where you'll work:
